Quit drinking ANY soda pop... it is all bad and it will all ruin your immune response.
Sugar is an immune depressant, and the artificial sweeteners are outright poison. Splenda/sucralose will shrink your thymus by 40%, and reduce the number or red and while blood cells by 40% as well... you can't fight infections in this way. Nutrasweet/aspertame will trash your entire nervous system.

I would also suggest dropping dairy from your diet because it creates mucous in the system. Consider having vanilla-flavored almond milk on your breakfast cereal.

If you still have your tonsils, please keep them. If you don't have them, get onto a MSM supplement with each meal... the tonsils are the only respository for sulphur in the body, and removing them leaves you deficient in this mineral... makes your nose and throat stuffy.

I would suggest getting onto a good Vitamin C supplement with every meal... I like "Allergy C Caps" by Twinlab. SELENIUM really helps fight off infection as well.

You can also take some herbal supplements to fight infections. Ginger capsules, or drinking ginger tea, will suppress coughing until you are actually ready to get rid of some sputum.
Other bug-fighters include: the tiny oregano oil gelcaps and/or the odor-free garlic capsules with each meal... these are natural antibiotics.

Vitamin C - There is more vit c in broccoli than there is in oranges ;-)

Go to a natural food/health store and get some immune booster. I take a liquid form one all the time.

And if you are a sinusy type person, like you get colds, allergies or stuff like that a lot, then I suggest you back off on the dairy. When I cut it out of my diet, I hardly get coughs, colds or allergies.
