Usually, it is 5 weeks or more. Do not take the tape off for even 1 night. Keep them there until they stay.

And it will not hurt the dog's ears people, it is not cruel, it is just for show. I prefer the dog's natural ears, but for show, it is alright, and will not hurt the dog.

keep them taped until they are standing. Ears also will often flop during teething, so they may need to be taped during that time.

Each dog is different, when I got my pup at 12 weeks, the tape was taken off his ears and they stood fine, and always have. I do not know what age they were taped, but I think the breeder does it at a fairly young age.

Some people have to tape for a few months to get the ears to stand. It does not hurt them or bother them.. just be sure to allow airflow in the ear canals to prevent infections.

Ears need to be taped for a lot longer than 3 weeks, hon. It can take up to 6 months or more, so keep at it and do NOT let them go even one night without taping until they are standing.

Just keep taping them and you will get there.

Depending on the crop, it could take weeks or months. I have heard of some ears standing in 8 weeks and others taking 12 months. The most important thing is NOT to give up. If you take the ears down and they fall, TAPE them up ...

How old is he?

If he's already an adult, the cartilage is already set and no matter how long you tape them, its not going to change. If he's still young, ask your breeder for advice.

Aren't Amstaff ears supposed to be a rose ear when natural?

If I'm understanding this right, the dogs ears are not cropped, but you're just taping to get them to set right?

I don't know how long they are supposed to be taped down for. Maybe you should check with your breeder about this since you are going to show this little fellow. Good luck on your shows!

You're just taping them? They weren't cropped at all?

Ok, then I will agree that it doesn't sound cruel. Sounds silly, but not cruel.

A pits ears do not naturaly stand you will need to take him to a vet and have its ears cropped properly. Please don't get a amature to do this surgery as it can be botched easily.
