If I use an oven safe bowl and put a very small bowl in the middle, will it do the trick to create the fluted/bundt look? Or will the batter go under the middle bowl and ruin it?

What else do you suggest? My sil is all about things "looking nice"... and we're going there for dinner tomorrow. Help!

I wouldn't - you will have a mess on your hand. Just use a couple of loaf pan sand slice it up after and place it in a circle on a plate. It will look pretty that way

I would look for the pan or go buy one fast.
I tried it with my glass bowls and it did not work. Not sure how metal pans would work. But with my heavy glass ones it still ran under and I had to cut of this long thin layer.
Good luck hope it all works out.

You can also use a tube pan or an angel food cake pan.

easy, bake it in a normal tin, but for slightly longer and lower the temp only a tad.
