Does the soul have memory?

then what is it GOD wants with the soul

Yes, after you die, you will be able to remember, although I think if you go to heaven that the awesome glory of being in the presence of God will make any memory of this life fade into insignificance.

Notice the story of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man died and went to a place of torment. Lazarus went to a place of comfort.

When the rich man asked for a little relief, Abraham told him, "Remember..." (Luke 16:24-25) The rich man could also remember his brothers who were still alive.

So, yes souls can remember. If you are eternally separated from God, you will be able to remember why. You will remember the times if you have you rejected God's word.

Not only soul has memory but I think the record of our all good deeds and bad deeds are also remain with the soul. When we die Angels take our soul to God to show and tell what kind of soul is and what record it holds in life on earth. If Angeles speak good words about soul God becomes happy. Then Angels come back, put the soul back in the body and tell the person that God is happy with you. Person smiles with happiness. Same moment the soul is taken out again and the smile stays on face. I have witnessed smile on face of my one cousins who was a decent person and highly spiritual also. This taking soul to God, reporting and Angels return back to body does happen during the time when the body is being washed and prepared for burial.

This process and belief is in Muslims and this it is written in Quran also. I don't remember in which chapter. I think it is one the first five Surahs of Quran. If necessary I can do searching for reporting next time.

The soul is the living spirit of a man that has moved away from the body flesh of a man when he dies. The sould could not reckon anything or could no longer remember anything about the past of his body soul. In short, no more memory.At the time of judgement, the soul will be waken by God to face the judgement. If his sins were forgiven he will be with God in heaven eternally b ut if his sins were not forgiven, he will go to hell to be burn to the lake of fire and their his life will end. There is no everlasting life in hell. It is not like in heaven where life will not last.

It really depends on your beliefs of what comes after death. Most scientists believe that when your brain is dead, everything including memories is dead along with it. I would like to hope though that things are kept in some kind of unknown energy or a soul.
