"Fact from fairy tale???"
The creation myth in the bible is one of the stupidest creation myths I've ever read.
It's not even Good fiction.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Albeit that the most commond belief is of a young Earth , if you will read in the book of Jeremiah 4:22 through 4:26 ,you might come to understand that there were at the least two destructions of the Earth , I believe that these verses from Jeremiah speak of the frist . Notice in verse :23 it says the exact same thing that is written in Genesis 1:2 , and verse :25 of Jeremiah states that there were no "man or birds, this is why I believe that the creation of the Earth written about in the book of Genesis is telling us about a second creation . That was just some thing that I wanted to share with you brother to brother in hopes that it would help you in your attempt at explaining in love , that God so loved man and has a plan to save all of man kind .God had revealed his plan in the garden when in Genesis 3:15 , that is speaking of Christ and his coming . Then as we move through Genesis to chapter 6:2 , we see were the fallen Angels came down from their appointed estate ,and had children with human women(genesis 6:4 ) that Satan was trying to geneticaly alter the human race , at an attempt to cause man kind not to be 100% human ,thusly stopping the savior from dying for the human race that God created , and maybe in Satans insanity , he thought that he would trick God into dying for a race that Satan had twisted into some thing blasphemous. For if you will read genesis 6:9 you will see that God said that Noah was "perfect in his generations , which really means in his genetic make up. I know that this is hard to understand but give it some study and you may change your mind about what you want to teach your children. Peace to you.

Then don't explain Young Earth Creationsim, if that is what you think about it after having studied Young Earth Creationism. You have studied it, right?
Teach him about Old Earth Creationism, that God created but did so in longer periods of time. Either view comports with Scripture, they just don't teach the atheistic naturalism that believes nothing became something then got more complex and intricate until we got man; evolved sludge that he is.
Creationism asserts a Creator, and this is reasonable. If the Flintstones is what you prefer to watch and absorb, you may not be able to grasp the smart arguments of Intelligent Design, but I assure you they are good and they honor God, whereas your present state of mind does not by denying Him.

First begin by telling him that the Earth was created in only six days by an old guy who lives in some clouds. Then tell him this happened only 6000 years ago, rocks from billions of years ago are a lie despite the scientific consensus that they are under our feet, dinosaurs are a conspiracy to discredit Young Earth Creationism, and you have no evidence to back up any of these claims, but the scientists have all sorts of evidence in their favor.

If you can actually see the original characters on TV then it could not have been that long ago that they lived. Being that TV hasn't been around all that long.

Uh, they weren't. The Great Gazoo rescued them and took them to the future where they became neighbors of the Jetsons.

Sit them down and explain it to them truthfully. Better they hear it from you than some kid at school...

Explain it anyway you want. Just make sure to close with, "...and if you don't believe me you'll burn in Hell for all eternity!"

No kid wants to burn in Hell. Use fear, the most time tested approach to effectively combat intellectual development.

Tell them the truth. Tell them God destroyed them because of their wickness and they refused to enter the ark and turn from their sins, but God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.

Say, now look at me, and look at the picture of the ape in this encyclopedia, and see how much I look like him! If you fail to answer the question properly I will throw my poop on you.

Say, those crazy creationists actually claim that God formed the entire universe completely with words. Adam was already a fully grown man. The light from the distant stars was already shining on the earth. And a snake like you was already tempting Eve to question the reality of God.
