I understand why this happens in society at large (in the US)...the majority of us are Christian. But with all the questions from so many points of view here, why is it that a sizable minority of questioners here continue to ask with the presumption we're all Christians when we clearly aren't?

repsuming = presuming I totally deserve to be chastized for that, and I apologize.

Um, Paula? You do know there are religions other than Christianity, right?

I'm not sure. I get frustrated when I see questions directed at Theists but when I read the details it's specifically towards Christians. I guess people don't stop to think that some of us who aren't Christians are still Theists. I'm a Polytheist... which still makes me a Theist. The only one's that aren't Theists are Atheists and many Buddhists.

Don't worry about the typos. Everyone makes them here... and this isn't English class. You're not being graded... except by perfectionists who think online discussions give them every detail into a persons intelligence and life. (Which is whacked, to say the least). =)

Because Most People In Here For Some Reason Are Either Christian Or Arrogant And Just Follow Their Parents And What They Believe. Its Wrong To Assume Anyone's Religion Especially When This Is A Free Forum, And It Should Be Expected That We All Come From Different Beliefs.

People ask questions hoping to attract a certain group to answer. Of course, that assumes that the question is worded with some thought, which is rare. Unfortunately, there seems to be people who just run through every single question and drop some rubbish, and then wonder why was that question asked when they know nothing about it and care even less. the question wasn't for them!!!! If Christians want to ask questions of other Christians, let them. If non-Christians want to ask honest questions about Christianity, let the Christians answer. I don't see any presumption of Christianity on this website. Any small group (such as YA) is a microcosm of the society at large, so we can't expect the percentages to be different. I would dearly love to see less ignorant insult-spewing from our contributors and more thoughtful discussion.

This is R&S but what is missing is all the mocking going on from the atheists to the Christians. Instead of asking "questions," some of those have turned this into an Ignorant version of Romper Room (sorry, many of you were WAY TOO YOUNG for this show).
I guess it is easier to point the finger at those who believe than to themselves that don't.
I guess that's where the focus is at times.

Good question. There are as many reasons for the assumption as there are Christian askers. It seems to me that there are three kinds of questions about Christianity here.
1. Good questions from Christians.
2. Stupid questions from Christians.
3. Insulting questions from non-Christians.

They are Optimistic.

Optimism is an outlook on life such that one maintains a view of the world as a positive place.

A common conundrum illustrates optimism-versus-pessimism with the question, does one regard a given glass of water, filled to half its capacity, as half full or as half empty? Conventional wisdom expects optimists to reply, "Half full," and pessimists to respond, "Half empty" (assuming that "full" is considered good, and empty, "bad").

Another paradox sometimes associated with optimism is that the only thing an optimist cannot view as positive is a pessimist. Pessimism, however, as it acts as a check to recklessness, may even then be viewed in a positive light.

I know... earlier there were several questions in a row directed at "religious" people, and the details did nothing but say "why do you believe Jesus blah blah blah"...

I mean seriously. There are THOUSANDS of religions that exist on this planet. How presumptuous is it that you assume anyone who is religious is also a fanatical Christian?

I don't think people usually ASSUME that everyone is Christian. They just want to hear the opinions of Christians on the question. If someone wants to answer who is not a Christian, they should feel free, but it would be right for them to tell the asker that they're not.

I never repsume that all the readers are Christian.

[edit:] Good one Paula, apparently you don't realize that 33% doesn't equal 100%.
