Abso-f*ckingly-lutely.

I think we're in dire need of a Deist president. I also think that the whole planet needs a new Age of Enlightenment.

Well, your examples are all people who have gone down in history as very special. I would vote for a deist like Jefferson with no hesitation. But I think a deist is likely to be a better bet, all other things being relatively equal, than a Christian. I'd prefer an outright atheist more, but that's too much to hope for in these times.

Just a Deist no. The proof in history of the men you mention might with the exception of Jefferson. I would have voted for Alexander Hamilton if he had chosen to run.

I would vote those men solely on their name, without a flicker of a thought for their creed.

If it wasn't the aforementioned who were running, then I do not know; it depends on what they would promise to do. I respect Deists in the highest, but that doesn't excuse them from being a bad choice for presidency

Religion should not play a role in politics-- In the US, church and state are supposed to be separate. So, yes, I'd vote for a president who had good ideas, regardless of their religious beliefs.

I think that's basically what most of our presidents have believed. People look for someone with relatively decent moral standards. Sad to say, that doesn't mean sexual morals, but the values we respect in a leader.

Well, the first two were slave owners, and the third broke thirteen constitutinal laws while in office (leading to the impeachment of his vice president after his assasination). So, as in these cases, it would depend on what else they stood for.

Yes. For one thing it takes courage to come to openly espouse anything but Theism in this country, and a person with that much courage just might have the courage to tackle the really tough issues.

That depends. Do I agree with their political views? If so, then religion plays no part in how I vote for president.
