Take powdered laundry detergent, mix with a little water to make a paste and dab it on the grease/oil spots and let it dry. After it dries brush the cat off - the oil and grease should come off with the dried detergent. Or you could get scissors and trim the greasy hair off, the grease will be gone and the hair will grow back quick enough.

If you feel sure Dawn would work, try any dish washing liquid that does not contain bleach. The cheapest but mildest degreaseing dish soap you can find.
Also, I would try Goop. A product used by mechanics to remove grease from their hands, then soap.
Good luck.

Well, I'm not particularly familiar with removing stains from cats. Try a dish washing soap that removes grease, something similar to dawn, or (don't know if you can get it in Australia) Goo Gone, Oops!, or something like that, a all-purpose remover that removes gum, grease, and stains, they usually remove grease pretty well. And good luck!

Lots of bad advice here many of the products suggested could be toxic to the kitten like goop for example. Diluted dishwashing soap without bleach or citrus could work be sure to rinse it off really well. Ideally you should call a vet or a groomer for advice kittens are very sensitive to toxins using the wrong product could make the kitten very ill or could be fatal.

I think a little white vinegar would work. Put it on a soft towel. Don't pour it on the kitten though. Also, make sure the kitten does not lick the grease! My cat did that & got very, very sick.

take that cat to the vet because it could harm the cat in a multitude of ways! oh and be a little more carefull of what your cat can do but it is nice to know that you are not irresponsible enough to leave the cat alone and not care that it got car grease and oil on it.

Babyshampoo and cotton balls. Be sure to use warm water. You may have to do this more than one time. Are you going to keep the kitten inside? Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving!!

If you can't Dawn dishwashing liquid, try something comparable. Maybe you should try a shampoo for oily hair. If that doesn't help, call a vet!
