Here is what I think:
We Catholics would never tell non-Catholic Christians what they believe but instead accept their statements of their belief; although, unlike the Catholic faith, there is usually no source to verify their beliefs as it is with Catholics where one can go to the Catechism and see exactly what Catholics believe. Therefore in this modern age of instant information, via the computer, there is no excuse when one bears false witness against Christ’s Church and the faithful. Such actions must, if one uses reason, be intentional prevarification. There is simply no other explanation except laziness. Actually it is correct in saying that one may be a wannabe Catholic but it probably is not intentional desire but ............

C. L. Richardson,
Thanks, you always confirm what I say. The invitation is still open to have a debate where you can have the opportunity to defend your claims about Christ's Church.

revulayshun,
Thank you also for proving my points.Eisegesis of Scriptures is bad hermeneutics and proves nothing except the hatred the perpetrator has for Christ's Church. Matt Slick, whom you quote, is just an anti-Catholic with an agenda of hatred towards Christ's Church. I believe the bible refers to these types as "ravenous wolves".

TEK,
Yours is an interesting opinion because of how wrong it is. But thanks anyway for participating.

Sola Scriptura,
ere is one very blatant flaw pointing out your eisegesis and that is that if the blessed mother is indeed sinful then Jesus could not have been the Paschal lamb prophesied in Scriptures and there has been no atonement. What you claim makes the whole Gospel false. I don't believe your opinion. It is false.

Spike, I was a protestant for 50 years and a minister for 25 before becoming Catholic. I have some insight as to Catholic hatred. I was one!

C. L. Richardson,
It will be public for all to see but private between you and I. Are you ready to defend all the lies about Christ's Church that you espouse?

Most Protestants i know do not hate Catholics but many are very ignorant of Catholicism and visa versa.
Many Protestant Fundamentalists here onR&S,however, do prove how deeply some of them are not only eagerly and stubbornly ignorant but hateful.
Many Protestants do not know the great debts they have to the Catholic Church and her teachings.

Protestant began when they didn't believe in Catholic. They veered off from the Catholic Church. I think the Catholic Church is strict and puts too much emphasis on a human named Mary, the Mother of Jesus. I hope Protestants preach Love and Tolerance but they are humans too. None of humanity is perfect. Only Jesus was. I'm a Protestant but don't believe the Pope is the anti-christ. And I think there is a difference between Catholic Christians and those that aren't Christians. I don't hate the Catholic Church. The buildings in fact are so beautiful. I just think the emphasis should be on the people who are the body of Christ.

Catholics defend what is precious to them. We receive the Body and Blood of Christ through the Catholic Church. This is plain and simple all.....either you believe in it or you don't! I don't know of any other Christian religion that believe s that the true presence of Christ is there as the Priest converts the bread and wine to the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior. Catholic, we are so Blessed!
BTW...As a Catholic, I have to defend myself all the time. I may come across a bit irritable! My beliefs are what make me faithful to the teaching of the Church. Faith is a gift from God.
Why are Catholic attacked? Well, think about this...Christ was persecuted on earth and we will be to. Whoever chooses to pick up their cross and follow Jesus and his Church will suffer due to the hatred of the world.
The devil is alive and well everyone. He wants to crush the Church and take all of the people with him.... The greatest achievement he has made is making people believe that he doesn't exist...
God Bless you ALL...

RIGHT GUYS HOLD IT!
This is painful to watch.
I was raised Protestant and have known many Catholics - still do - and i have never been given a hard time by any of them - fact is every Catholic i know cares about me, accepts me, & some even pray for me - i see them as humble ppl following Jesus & doing the best they can -- so i agree with your 1st point based on my experience.
Having said that 'tuberoot' has a point - why are you always asking ppl to accept the Catholic church - aren't all of us who believe in Christ as Saviour part of the church of Christ....
Like i said i was raised Protestant - but 15yrs ago received Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord - and am now part of the body of Christ (Christian) - isn't this what we should be aiming for - that blessing spoken of in Psalm 133 - where brothers dwell in unity - God commands the blessing....
Let us promote Christ - the corner stone - the Saviour of the world - the one true God who gave His life that we might live. We celebrate His wondrous birth next month - that Holy night - Awesome and beautiful night that Christ was born.
oh Lord helps us to look to you and no other.

i appreciate the question
i find it very difficult to understand this hatred for the Church. Misconceptions about the Catholic Church can be easily corrected by just looking up the Catechism as you stated. however the problem is the hatred is too ingrained and more powerful than the desire to search any further for the REAL TRUTH as protestants firmly believe they are already in possession of the REAL TRUTH.
i believe this hatred for the Church is TAUGHT either by yourself to yourself through years of studying the Bible with the view that the Church is EVIL or it is TAUGHT by others with the same view and you choose to take on their opinion.
This hatred is so veiled with "love" that even the teachers themself dont realise that what they preach is in fact preaching against Jesus Himself.
some of my dearest friends are non-catholic christians yet although they see me as a good person (because they know me) they still believe i worship statues! why cant they just take my word for it!!? thats what i dont get!
what i get is " yeah but my pastor said the Catholic Church believes.........blah blah blah....and its true because i can show you in the bible where it says....blah blah blah"
they love me but hate my catholicism because they reject the Church that Jesus established 2000yrs ago
dear protestants i dont care what your pastor said because your pastor gives credit to an ex-catholic priest who had a loathing for the Church and the authority given to Her by Her Founder.
why do i not hate them back? because i know they are simply misguided and if they knew the TRUTH of the origin of the Catholic Church they will embrace Her willingly and with JOYFUL HEARTS.
I feel very blessed to be a catholic and therefore having access to the sacrament of the Eucharist
well thats my 2cents worth
God bless you Father Joseph
EDIT: wow...i just read up on the link you provided. Thank you. clears up a lot for me.

Comments like why do they hate Christ's church causes some of the problems. The RCC is not Christ's church all alone. All Christians are part of the church Jesus formed.
There are some Catholic haters here. However I have also met quite a few Catholics on here who hate protestants.
As to our beliefs the are found between Genesis 1:1 and Revelation 22:21. We believe the Bible. I often question the RCC but I don't think I tell lies about it. In all honestly I have seen quite a bit of dishonesty or at least lack of knowledge that appears to be dishonesty on both sides. I really think that when we talk and respect each other we often find common ground. However it is hard to get anywhere sometimes with the hard headed people on either side.

If your question translates as "Why do Protestants hate the Roman Catholic Church?" it is a loaded, unanswerable question of the "Are you still beating your wife?" variety. There are vastly differing views about Christ's Church and you should not find hate in any of them.

The Catholic Church is not Christ's church, first of all. The book of Acts tells you the church that Jesus built. There are NO similarities whatsoever. Protestants don't hate Catholics @ least none that I know. Catholics don't tell you their beliefs cause they really don't know what they are. I only know 3 people who can tell me anything about their Catholic faith. I know many, many people who have been Catholic for generations. How sad!

Your question betrays a lack of objectivity. The Vatican is the church of Rome. Christ's church is truly "universal" and does not require that I submit to the Pope's latin rite. You will not find the latin rite in Scripture.
I was once Roman Catholic, went to RC school and went through the whole ritual. When I became a born again Christian (because Jesus revealed himself to me) my RC family "loved" me so much that I haven't been welcome back for 20 years.
The fact is that the things that divide most Romans from the rest of the "protestant" Christian world are based in their assumption that they represent the whole of Christ's Church.
Tell that to the Greek Orthodox church, who are not protestant and who pre-existed Rome. Tell that to the Coptics who trace their church back to the apostles just as readily as Rome.
The fact is that Rome is only one of seven major branches of Christianity and is the farthest out of phase with the rest.
