How about trying some water. I heard fish live in water, so I assume if you want to catch fish, you'll need to hit the water.

I don't understand why someone would have to ask where they can fish. Look for some water!! Where you see water, fish. It's not rocket surgery!

Long Beach Fishing Spots

There are several sport fishing landings in the Long Beach area. Check Queens wharf in Long Beach, LA Harbor sport fishing located in the Ports of Call Village and 22nd St Landing in San Pedro.. You can also fish off the the break water.

For fresh water there is nothing close by other than maybe some city lakes in the local parks. If you drive a ways north there are several places to go, about 1-2 hours from Long Beach. Three of the best are Castaic, Pyramid, and Lake Piru.

Pick up a copy of Western Outdoor News, they have a complete listing, and current info to what is going on. Paper comes out weekly and can be found at most liquor stores and mini markets.

Anywhere you can get to the water is a good place to fish. There are several parks, jetties, and piers there. Theres sand bass, corvina, surf perch, halibut, mackeral, bonito, and a bunch of others close to shore. Theres a long jetty at 72nd street I believe it is that goes way out.

If you use a long surf rod you have a better change at other bass and halibut. I used a 12 ft rod from Ogeechee Outdoors. It opens and closes to make it easier to get there. http://www.ogeecheeoutdoors.com/product_info.php?cPath=23&products_id=32 Theres also information there about fishing for opaleye from the jetties and rocks.

Look around and you will definately see some places to fish. Theres a park near the marina that has access to the beach. Theres a path that goes down the side of the marina that goes out into deeper water. I used to catch sand bass there with squid or mackeral.

Good luck.
