Stop tinting your hair immediately! Go to your stylist and ask him or her to perform what we in the business call a Patch Test. He or she will use many different types of colour on small patches of your scalp to see what you are or not reacting to. Your stylist may have you sign a waiver in case of non-intentional injury.
If you are using Drugstore colour, keep in mind cheap tints have metallic compounds instead of high quality pigments, and many people are allergic to those. You also may be experiencing irritation due to peroxide, ammonia, or a combination of the two. If you brush your hair and scalp vigorously right before tinting, that could be abrading your scalp, making the dye become even MORE irritating than normal.
If your stylist finds you are allergic to EVERY kind of tint, he or she can still colour your hair in a method called "foil slicing". That way the colour will come less than a quarter inch from your scalp, yet your hair will still be coated with a good quality dye. A bonus benefit from using professional colour is that it tends to last a lot longer than cheap drugstore tints!

You are probably allergic to the hair dye, or you just have sensitive skin. Either way, if you continue to use the dye, don't itch because you can break open your skin and cause an infection. The kind of hair dye you buy at the store usually has an allergy test to do before you dye your hair. Good Luck!

It itches because you have either too much in your hair or maybe your scalp is too sensitive for the brand you use it should itch a bit but not a lot. So make sure you either try to use less die or try a different one which is for sensitive scalps/ I hope this helps! :D

Maybe your scalp has some kind of reaction to it or the brand.

You are not supposed to wash your hair before you color it so that the oil protects your scalp. Read the instructions.

I would hazard the guess of an alergy. Try a different brand of dye.
