Because their not old enough to make the decision as to when to stop....a lot of adults are this way also !!!!!!! They get with their peers and all want to show off so they drink to excess and then get into a car....and think that this is just having fun....well until you can say to another person, " I'm too young to drink, especially while driving, or if at twenty one you drink without setting up a designated driver you shouldn't be drinking....even as a teenager I didn't drink, I would say no, and that was that...I guess that's why everyone thought that I was so much older then the other kids...I only had one thing that was different, more sense !!!!!!!!

It screws up their life.People say not uh!Not true and thats bull.

Im a teenager 16 almost 17.I use to drink when I was 13 I outdrank everyone. My first time drinking I had 23 beers weighed less then 90 pounds.I was under my friends bed singing 99 beers on the wall.Drank all that year.Always felt like hell for days afterwards.Tears up your stomach.Teenagers start to drink they get addicted more addicted then adult would. When your about 50 its going to kill you and thats if your lucky. When people get addicted they don't have a dime to their name their entire life.Living from paycheck to paycheck.Become a family man who can't support their family beat their wife and kids have no teeth.
I stoped when I was 14 I wanted a life I wanted to be ritch make it through college have a nice wife and kids make sure they have erything they desire and more. Now im about togo college next year.Try togo hardard.
Drinking is a stupid habbit there are what 30,000 deaths each year from drinking and driving. Most of the time the drunk lives and its a innocent 3 year old being burried.
Only reason why alcohol is legal because ther goerment makes a few hundred billion dollars a year off of taxing it.for that much money so many peoples lives are lost.I hate drunks more then anything in this world.I dont care if you stay at home and do it its pathetic. All my family before this genration were drunks my great granddad owned over 60% of our town sold it all for beer died because of it.They only person before my and my mothers generation who wasn't a drunk in our family was a millionaire in world war II had over 80 million dollars hid it all in the bank lost since then.My mothers generation and mine were drinks and my mother has business worth 7 milliona nd growing just stared a few years ago.My granddad is worth more then 20 million never drinks. My uncle only thing he drinks is red wine once a night for health. He has more then 2 million dollars in the bank. His house is worth almost 2 million.I could keep going and goind my family has alot of money none of witch they inheritad. There fathers and mothers before them were all rich spent ever last penny on beer. They only person in my family now that drinks is a uncle of mine.He owes the goerment 100,000 dollars the bank fifty-thousand.Other people about twenty. So don't any of you say alcohol doesn't ruin your life because it does my family is proof.Im living proof.Messaged me ill get you even more proof.Thats why teenages should not drink they think they know everything but they know nothing.Thwey care about having a good time and thats it.

This is a very debatable question. Here are my points:
1) You can vote for someone to run ur country at the age of 18
2) You can go defend and or die for ur country at the age of 18
3) You can work in a bar and serve alcohol to people at the age of 18
4) You can own and operate a bar at the age of 18, but cant buy the alcohol to stock ur bar till ur 21
Whats wrong with this picture?!?!
5) Ur also considered an adult at the age of 18
Personally, I think if they would lower the drinking age to 18 (in the US), I dont think as many kids would drink because the thrill of getting served while underage wouldn't make it "exciting" to try and get away with. I also agree with most of u that, a lot of 18 year olds aren't mature and responsible enough to drink alcohol.
Just my opinion.

I lost some friends in high school because they got drunk and went out and drove themselves into a tree. They were so drunk that they were going around 80-90mph and they drove across two lanes to wrap themselves around a tree. Only one kid was wearing his seatbelt and he was in a coma for months... he doesn't remember anything about it. Their families will always be traumatized by this and I can't imagine what it was like hearing that their sons were dead... They were only 17!

I had another friend who was raped at a party because she was too drunk to fight him off. The next day she had to rush off to Planned Parenthood to take Plan B (a form of birth control pill used after unprotected sex) and get an STD test. The guy was nearly 30 years old and she was 16 or 17.

I used to drink before all of this happened and I said and did a lot of stupid stuff that I regret. I haven't had a drink for about two years and I'm so happy that I made that decision.

It's not just about the fact that it is against the law. It is really about the facts that young people have no idea how to handle adult issues. Teenagers get into cars and drive like no one will ever die because of their inexperience. Add alcohol to that and you kill many people. It takes time and experience to understand how to handle the responsibility that comes with consuming alchohol just like it takes time to understand that a car isn't a personal joy stick. Teenagers don't get the fact that actions have consequences. We've all been there done that.

Because when they lower the drinking age in the 1970's the Alcohol related driving accidents and deaths sky-rocketed. Teenagers just don't have enough common sense not do drink & drive. Even some adults have that same problem.

We try to teach our kids that it is not responsible to eat too much as they grow up, don't spend more than you have, we have driver's education when they begin to get behind the wheel and we talk about the need to have safe sex.
So why not teach our children about safe drinking? Teach them at an early age that is okay to have a drink with dinner and then that's it.
If those are the values we teach our kids, they will continue the practice. The alcoholism rate in European countries is lower than the US because everyone learns early about the control of alcohol.

Everything is moderation.

Good luck.

Teenagers are really naive they shouldnt drink alcohol is not good for you either. Why give it to them? Just ask yourself why would you give them alcohol. I can give u million reasons, Well your kid could be drinking and driving and get in a wreck and they can die or kill someone else. They can become alcoholics. Teen yrs you feel bullet proof so anything can go wrong. Why raise your child to be an alcohlic. If u discipline your kid and tell them no from day 1 they wont ask for it. I think nowadays its more of the parents fault, Bad parenting skills

Teenagers shouldn't drink because first they are underage and they may not know how to handle themselves being drunk and others could take advantage of them and there is a time and place for everything so why rush it wait have something to look forward to when they turn 21 and then maybe they will be mature enough..

I personally don't believe anyone should be drinking go the point of intoxication. The reason teenagers aren't allowed to drink is because we are thought of as irresponsible and people believe that by the age of 21 you will be responsible enough to drink without getting intoxicated or harming yourself or others.
