You can get it from your local supermarket, but it won't taste the same as if you make it from scratch. Plus, what you buy at the store doesn't have the alcohol in it, but you can add that yourself.
I've always loved eggnog, and the eggnog flavored ice cream. I usually top it off with a dash of ground nutmeg (which is already in it) and a quick spritz of the Ready Whip.
I found this recipe for you if you want to try and make it from scratch.....
Eggnog

Show: Good Eats
Episode: School of Hard Nogs
4 egg yolks
1/3 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
1 pint whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
3 ounces bourbon
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
4 egg whites*
In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Add the milk, cream, bourbon and nutmeg and stir to combine.
Place the egg whites in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat to soft peaks. With the mixer still running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
Whisk the egg whites into the mixture. Chill and serve.
Cook's Note: For cooked eggnog, follow procedure below.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan, over high heat, combine the milk, heavy cream and nutmeg and bring just to a boil, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat and gradually temper the hot mixture into the egg and sugar mixture. Then return everything to the pot and cook until the mixture reaches 160 degrees F. Remove from the heat, stir in the bourbon, pour into a medium mixing bowl, and set in the refrigerator to chill.
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the egg whites to soft peaks. With the mixer running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Whisk the egg whites into the chilled mixture.
*RAW EGG WARNING
Food Network Kitchens suggest caution in consuming raw and lightly-cooked eggs due to the slight risk of Salmonella or other food-borne illness. To reduce this risk, we recommend you use only fresh, properly-refrigerated, clean, grade A or AA eggs with intact shells, and avoid contact between the yolks or whites and the shell.

actually the egg nog ice cream tastes pretty much like that ice cream. i just had a sample of it a few days ago and i loved it. so im guessing if you didnt like the ice cream you probably wont like regular egg nog. you can get it at any grocery store in the milk aisle.

Authentic egg nog is the drink for the Holiday season and can be purchased in any grocery store, super market or dairy store. It can be made at home using a blender. It is better to buy it ready made.

they sell eggnog in the grocery store by the milk. I like it but a lot of people don't like it so don't be surprised if you don't. The egg nog ice cream probably tasted very similar to egg nog.

Well, egg nog has a different taste and it actually takes a while to get used to the taste. When I first tasted it, I hated it. But when I tried it again, I really liked it.
Try going to any local supermarket.

You should be able to just go to your local grocery store and they should carry it since it's the holiday season.
