If you substitute butter for cream cheese it will not only give your bars a much different taste, but they will probably end up as a soup rather than bars because heated butter has a much different consistency than heated cream cheese. The cream cheese will stay thick while the butter would just melt away.

no, butter is pure fat while the cream cheese is a dairy and fat , You could sub some yogurt that you have set in a fine strainer for an hour or so to drain all the excess moisture from use plain or a flavor that is complimentary to your recipe If it's sweetened you may want to cut back a bit on the sugar

i wouldn't try it. cream cheese tastes a lot different than butter. it might affect the quality of whatever your making too. but cooking is about experimenting and trying things out.

Use yogurt cheese. But to make that, you need to strain it through cheesecloth (or a screen like that) overnight in your refrigerator in order to get as much of the liquid out as possible.

No, they are two totally different things. Besides, the butter will melt when you bake them and you'll have a heck of a mess.

No, if you're pressed for time and ingredients, and have butter, make a pie crust and make pumpkin pie.
