Wow, you're probably really into philosophy.
Of course I've wondered what the real truth is, and I'm sure everyone has at least at one time or another. It frustrates me so much not knowing for sure.
Who's to truly know if they've seen a higher power before? There's honestly no way anyone can know.
For the last question it's kind of hard to say because I believe in my beliefs of course. ;-) But I doubt I'll ever know if they're the real truth or not.

Read Holy Qur-aan's translation at least twice by typing 'Kanzul Iman' in Google search box, you will get answer to all your doubts. God can't be seen. Can you see everything existing in the universe in your lifespan ? You cannot directly see even a single atom. God made entire universe & beyond what you don't know now. See, neutrino accounts for most of dark masses & energies of the universe. Before 1954, those things were not scientifically observable & so, looked absurd & wrong. experiments proved those things to be correct, though invisible. Gravitational waves predicted by einstein too are stiil not fully confirmed. they require earth sized equipments calculatedly on the basis of Physics. Blach holes are invisible but it is confirmed reality by its effects on giganetic stars only in 1993. Electromagnetic energy, power & heat are reality but are invisible. soultoo is reality but invisible. Even a small ant man cannot make. then how could the entire universe with all living creatures could get created so nicely & finely automatically. who made them ? Not by God ? Maybe , in next milleneium people may be able to sense those unknown things. Human senses are very-very limited.
Also read the book 'Minhajul Muslim' (688 pages) by Abubakar jabir Al Jazairi, available in New York, London & many other prominent cities. All confusions will be over.

all the time....sometimes I think people believe "something" just to feel good about "going somewhere" when they die...not everyone, but some people do. I think it gives them a sense of security.
