Thousands of Jehovah's Witness are leaving the Watchtower movement around the world due to disillusion and disappointment. Although the JW Governing body will reason that in the last days many will abandon their faith but that is not primarily because they were "lured" towards another faith. How about you? Why did you quit following the dictates of the Governing Body? Let's pray that the Jehovah's Witnesses here will not vote to remove my post. They were successful in having my other posted questions removed by Yahoo! Answers. Please, I am appealing to the JWs here to let the public decide whether you are really teaching the truth or not. To be 100% honest, I couldnt follow the rules which to this day I know are right. I did not leave because I disagree with their teachings. I only left because I dont want to live my life by gods standards at this time. I know they are the true religion no argument with me there, I just dont want to do that in my life now. That is the truth!

Some would argue that Jehovah's people are part of a cult, the only ones that say this are the one that have not read the bible with an understanding of what it saying. they let others do the reading for the and wait to hear what it says, that's putting your trust in man, not good!. The times and prophecies written in the book of Danial and Revelations are clear. Satan is misleading many people and the refuse to believe it. They swear they would never knowingly tell a lie, but to the very children they lie their butts off. Santa, Easter Bunny and so on. Would they say Jehovah's name in their house and feel joy hearing it, No they cringe and shun those who do, The Devil leads them not Jehovah (ps. 83:18) You must have a true and humble heart in order to understand the bible, This is how Jehovah chooses the Wheat from the weeds, real simple and real effective. I could go on and on for days, but ask one of Jehovah's people to help you, after all, you never hear of them going to war or winning over a political party, they don't even tell anybody what they have to do. It is always a personal choice. and yes brain washing is good, It's called the truth will set you free. free from the corruption the world has given man.

I've noted 300 JWs and 75 ex-JW participants on Yahoo, which denotes a 25% 'defection' rate, roughly. We have no way of knowing if this is a fair reflection of the world-wide situation for the annual Yearbook statistics never state how many members leave. But clearly hundreds of thousands leave every year because the percentage increase would be far higher if the only losses were through death.

It has been calculated that over one quarter of a million left in 1977 and 1978 alone. The 1977 annual service year report showed JW numbers decreased by 21,243 even though 124,459 new ones were baptized. The 1978 figuress showed a decrease of 30,496 (1.4%) despite 95,052 new baptisms. This was 29,407 less than in 1977 - a 23% decrease in baptisms! A total of 271,250 Witnesses left during those 2 years - they didn't all die! The disappointment with 1975 expectations likely had a far greater influence than sex.

It has been estimated that over 5 million left from 1970 till 2000. Are the JWs saying that 5 million members were discovered to have been sexually immoral during those 30 years and were unrepentant about it? That must mean that many more were immoral but repented (hence not disfellowshipped) and that many more were never discovered. Does that indicate rampant immorality in the ranks of JWs? Or is it not more likely that the vast majority get put out or leave because they disagree with doctrine / practice? Rank and file JWs will never get to know from their leaders. The excuse of immorality is continually offered and unquestioningly accepted.

The public's opinion will not prove anything.

If you had done a poll in Sodom and Gomorrah, asking whether Lot was a righteous man, what do you think you'd have been told?

Same principle applies. What's important is what GOD thinks. Compare our beliefs to the Bible, not to what imperfect humans believe.

Someone leaving does not mean it is wrong. Satan and a third of the angels left heaven- is God or heaven bad?

Judas Iscariot and a lot of followers of Jesus left him- was he wrong?

The fact that the MAJORITY stay should tell you something. And a minority of those thousands actually walk out- a lot more are PUT OUT for some misconduct or other.

For me it was a number of factors all at once. I read something that worried me in the 'Armageddon, its grand climax at hand' book, an inocuous statement really, on page 36, that says that they 'idolized' Charles T. Russell. I was repulsed, because idolatry in any form was supposedly abhorrent, but particularly idolatry of a human. I was so troubled that I prayed to Yawheh (decided to use a more acceptable form of his name), to show me the truth. I was very quickly inundated by information about the society that appalled me, however, I saw from the Bible the lies they teach about Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I did not even hesitate to leave. JW's' please note thet I left voluntarily, I am a modest, clean living, grandmother who has not the slightest interest in immorality, I just found the real truth about Jesus and salvation by God's wonderful grace and not by our works. I am free to worship God in freedom and in truth and rejoice in that. I pray that you too will find the freedom that Jesus came to give us, I appreciate that most of you are honest, loving individuals who have a real love of God, and I love you for that, however, the doctrines of the society are, in the main, false, and I urge you to look with eyes that God gave you, and wisdom that God gave you, outside of the organisation. Many of you will be amazed to find that the world out there is not full of evil and sin, but that there is a growing body of people who love God purely and simply.

The majority of Jehovah's Witness disfellowshippings concern unrepentant fornication. That has been the case for decades, and Jehovah's Witnesses have candidly admitted as such.

Jehovah's Witnesses - Proclaimers of God's Kingdom (page 103)
[quote]
Jehovah’s Witnesses were not unaffected by the sexual revolution of the 1960’s. In fact, several thousand—a small percentage of their total number—had to be disfellowshipped each year, the majority for sexual immorality.
[unquote]

The Watchtower, February 15, 1993 (page 8)
[quote]
Although only a small proportion of Christians are affected, it has to be recognized that the majority of cases of disfellowshipping from the ranks of Jehovah’s Witnesses for unrepentant conduct unbecoming a Christian are related to some form of sexual immorality.

I was a JW for many years. Although many leave over theological errors, the overall numbers still increase. This is mainly the result of the growth in many 3rd world countries. In the Western world, the growth and decline seem to cancel each other out.
In America many that I know from the 70's and 80's have left (not because of immorality, but theology). The new light doctrine is often misapplied.

Despite having MANY positions in the org., I have FADED away as many others have, because of errors and inconsistencies. Many religions have theological errors, the JW's are no different. Some of the tenents I embrace, while others are clearly wrong. The generation teaching is the most glaring error, disguised as "New Light". Unfortunately most JW's are in denial of errors. An entire teaching will change without much fanfare. Some JW's are unaware of a change untill years later.

We dont need the public to decide one way or the other.
We know we have the Truth and we have God's backing. That is all that matters.
The scriptures tell us at 2Peter3:3:"For you know this first, that in the last days, there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires........."
The fact that no other religion is condemned as much as we are for trying to preach God's Word is only reimforcement that we have the only true religion. And it is also fulfillment of prophecy.Jesus said his followers would be hated...........
