I have no problem with holding hands, kissing (on the cheek or on the lips) or hugging in public. My husband and I do that all the time.
I consider French kissing in public and having the hands on each others rear ends in public to be tacky and I won't do it, but I see no need to force my ideals onto others. Besides, if I don't like it, I don't have to stand there and stare at them. If I'm in public, I'm not there to see who's tongue is in who's mouth. It's not my business.
I do have a problem with full making out in public. When I say full making out, I mean hands on private areas, under clothing, writhing around, etc. Putting on a full display. That warrants a glare from me, but nothing more. Again, it's really not my business and as far as I know, it's not a crime, so I leave them to it. (If the more private body parts were being exposed, I would call the police. Where I live, indecent exposure is a crime. I would be remiss as a citizen if I failed to report a crime.)
I try not to be overly judgmental of people who go beyond my ideas of what's appropriate and what's not. My husband and I have been on the receiving end of harsh judgement and rude statements (such as "Get a room!) for holding hands and nothing more. We have even had someone threaten to throw us out of a store for being too "close" when all my husband was doing was helping me walk because I'd sprained my ankle and couldn't balance on my own.

I think that depends upon how public the place is. Consider also the time of day and surrounding population. We have gone a little crazy with worrying about public displays of affection in the U. S. society. Affection is and should be ok. Overt sexual behavior in public is still a no-no. Frenching might be carrying things a bit far...again consider time of day and surrounding population.

Holding hands is fine. A quick kiss on the lips is OK. But frenching or groping in public is rude.
If you must french, go somewhere that's away from the view of others - especially children. Nobody wants to see people so horny that they can barely control themselves. Get a room!

I'm all for hand holding, kissing (other than french kissing) and arm-in-arm. Beyond that, it's better done in private.

well if u have a hot make out in public im sorry, people will think its gross. but little kisses, and tons of hugs, and even cuddling is alright, actually its really cute. In my opinion anyway. I think its more of a personal opinion thing.

i think PDA can be cute but when you get to the point of rubbing your girlfriend inapropriately on the schools'(HS) front yard ( like some people i know) you might want to reflect and thin it over cuz thats just gross but a kiss is deff okay

I would say hugging, holding hands, and kissing is okay. French kissing, petting, etc. is not okay.
