15 minutes per pound at 325 degrees, so about 5 hours...I would go at least half an hour extra, though. I always rub butter on the outside of the bird, put about a cup of water in the pan, cover with foil, and baste every half an hour. Take the foil off for the last half an hour so it gets pretty and golden brown! I've never had a dry turkey yet! The turkey probably comes with a pop-up timer that lets you know that the inside of the turkey has reached 170 degrees, if not, stick a meat thermometer in to test. Don't listen to the advice to cook overnight at 250 degrees...Yes, it does make a great tasting turkey, but the oven never gets hot enough to kill off food-born bacteria that can cause your family to become very sick.

Do you mean a turkey crown? You can follow the directions on the packaging but here is my favourite way of doing it..... Wash your hands. Put the oven on to heat - temp 180C or gas mark 4. get a piece of foil big enough to wrap all around the turkey - like brown paper round a parcel. Put the turkey on the shiney side of the foil. But don't wrap it yet. The foil will keep your scales cleaner. Wash your hands! Weight the turkey crown (or cheat and look at the label on the package). You'll need this to work out how long to cook it. Lift the foil with the turkey still on top and put it into an oven proof dish. Make sure the foil edges aren't under the turkey as you are going to wrap the turkey in the foil in a minute. Put a teaspoon of whole grain mustard for each person who is eating on top of the turkey then pour a tablespoon of clear honey for each diner on top of that. Wrap up the turkey in the foil and make sure it is well sealed. Put turkey parcel in oven. Washyour handsand clean up - especially where turkey has been and where you might have touched something after handling the turkey. Cooking time: 30 minutes PLUS another 30 minutes for each 500gms the turkey weighs. During the last 30 mins of cooking do the veggies (green beans, sweetcorn, carrots - make it colourful as turkey, well, isn't) When you think the turkey is done stick something into it and make sure the juices run clear. If there is even a hint of pink put the meat back infor another 15 minutes and test again. After you lift the turkey out put in frozen yorkshire puds. They only take 3 or 4 minutes so can cook whilst you are putting out everything else. Enjoy......

I read the directions on the bag the turkey came in and follow them religiously. If you cook a turkey too long, the meat is dry and its hard to eat.
Also. if you buy the turkey coooking bags, follow the directions on box the bags come in. Do everything according to the directions on the turkey cooking bags right down to the flour in the bag and cut some small holes in the top. Baking a turkey in a bag has been my best experience.
The turkey comes out moist and juicy and not over cooked.
Happy thanksgiving and blessings to you and your family.

20lbs should cook 4 1/2 - 6 hours depending on your oven. Most turkeys have the internal thermometers which help.

About an hour for every 4 lbs.
However, if you're not sure, just put it in the oven at 10:00 AM and keep it cooking until 7:00 PM. It won't hurt the turkey at all ^^

It depends on if you stuff it or not. Stuffing your bird will take longer to cook. Call the Butterball Hot-line (1-800-BUTTERBALL) or check out their website if you have any questions about your turkey even if you're not using Butterball brand.

It is a half an hour per pound usually, around 4-5 hours, most have a timer in them that will pop up, just keep basting it, and checking it around every 1/2 hour, keep a tent of foil over it so it don't burn.
