Listen, I know there are women more qualified for the military than me. But as an average size guy, if I did any sort of strength/military training, I would be stronger/more powerful than 98% of the woman in the military. And I'm sure this would be the case with any average guy.

So, I would never be physically intimidated by a woman drill sgt. However, even after training, I know there would probably be about 1/3 of the males in the military who could still woop my ***. And if I had one of them as a drill instructor, would be intimidated and scared.

Can a woman effectively be a drill sgt for a all male unit?

yeah I'm rambo. The same guy who just said at least 50% of the men in the military could beat my ***.

But I don't think I'm being Rambo by saying if I received proper training, no woman outside of Mohammad Ali's daughter and about another select 1% of woman is going to beat me in hand to hand combat.

To PinkBrain,

I would never begin to try to understand what someone who has experienced combat has to go through. Those men and woman have to go through things I could never fathom.

But as for non-combatant military in general, and especially the women in the "non-combatant" military, ummm, I've seen more danger than you can even fathom. I have two bullet wounds from my days of working as a deliver person in the Taylor Homes. I've had knives and broken beer bottles pulled on me regularly. And listen, no woman there "hangs with the toughest male".

Now maybe it is different on the battlefield. And taht is why I asked the question. But to think woman are tough as men in dark, gang-ridden elevators of the Robert Taylor homes is ludicrous.

Go ahead and believe what you will. I will give you a personal guarantee that if you run into a female Drill Sergeant and you screwed up, she will straighten you out.

Its her job, she has been highly trained to do her job, And as you said , you are no Rambo.

Trust me, any female Drill Sergeant can handle almost any trainee who needs it, and besides male or female, Drill Sergeants are almost always more than one.

As a primary drill Sergeant the answer would be no. A female would not be a drill Sergeant for men and vice versa. The women may instruct a class or run an exercise full of men and they had better listen. Gender and size has nothing to do with whether or not one can be a drill Sergeant. Rank and experience do. Many a man has tried once to disrespect a female drill Sergeant and learned, quickly and the hard way, that is not the thing to do in the military. Few have repeated that mistake.

The intimidation is not to put the fear of God in you for your life, but that you will do something stupid and be sent home with your tail between your legs, ashamed. I had one drill sergeant that was a runt and I could have smacked him all around that drill pad, but I was proud to be part of the Air Force and I made up my mind that I wasn't going to let my TI or the flight down. So, to put it simple, yes they can be effective Drill Sergeants or Training Instructors. Oh and by the way, I know a few female instructors and they could probably mop up the floor with most average men. Don't let their gender fool you.

Yes!
They can be effective drill sergeants, because being a drill instructor is about teaching new troops how to perform basic military functions required of their branch. Your only purpose in life as a trainee is to learn from these people. When you are out of line, it doesn't matter if you are stronger, because proper military discipline will teach you that it is your duty to follow orders. If you can not follow orders, you will be assigned additional duties. These duties can keep you up all night pulling guard leaving you with little sleep. This is just one example, they have made it their proffession to take soft civillians such as yourself and turning them into respectable Airman, Sailors, Marines and Soldiers.

Dont worry, they'll intimidate you mentally too. I wouldn't want to stand before the boss going with some BS like "I'm not doing what she said because I'm stronger then her."

Most of the time the only all-male units in the military end up being infantry units. Since only men can be infantry, then only men can train infantry for specific MOS training. I am pretty sure most of the other MOS's are open to women, therefore women can train them regardless of how many men or women are in the unit. I was in infantry basic and my unit was all men. There is a possibility of having a women as a Squadron Commander depending on what type of unit you are. It can get somewhat complicated, but thats the military I guess.

Military Men? No! Not only military men but all types of men do cheat. Dun be sad. Men can cheat so do women. There is also some case women cheat. If women really want a marriage there is a gamble in it. You will never know what comes the next. Maybe end up is a good ones maybe not. Who knows? But God knows. Ask him :>

God, I hate it when a dumbass civilian thinks he's all big and bad and disses military, especially females, while hiding behind his computer. Can a female drill instructor lead men? Yes, in most branches except the Marine Corps. We are the only branch that separates the different genders during boot camp. As for being able to beat a female, duh, if you're bigger and stronger than your opponent, then chances are pretty good you're going to win, male or female. How about you quit making up statistics, put your money where your mouth is, enlist, and prove you're all big and bad. Til, then, shut your trap.

They can and they do. Thirteen years ago, my AIT drill sergeants were women.

And you grossly overestimate your comparison of the "power" of the average man to "98% of the women in teh military." Especially those that choose to become Drill Sergeants.

There's more to intimidation than the physical. There's more to being a drill sergeant than intimidation too.

they are not drill sergeants for all male recruits, they are drill sergeants when its a mixed group of recruits. I wouldnt know because I have never seen one but that is just how it is. they need female DS's so they can go into the female barracks and do all the "girl" stuff so the men DS's dont get false sexual harassment charges
