Nobody can do it all. Just do your best. Remember the story about the little boy picking up starfish from the sand and throwing them back into the sea? Someone saw him and said he would never be able to throw them all back into the sea, so it would not matter. And the boy said, "It will matter to the ones I throw back."

You are an incredible person. I cannot imagine the kind of struggle you face on a daily basis to have to pick just a few. You have such a difficult task, and yet you do it in the hopes that it touches the right person.

Someone above me mentioned the starfish story. It is so very true. You need to believe that. Know also that God, or Destiny, or whatever you believe in has a hand in what you are doing. You are not alone in this.

Thank you for what you are doing. Only you know what it must feel like to try and "pick the right one". It is during this time of year that we not only count our blessings, but we are reminded of those we have lost as well. If all the people in all the letters knew how they touched you they would be touched as well.

I don't think the feeling your having is "paranoid" more than feeling anxious about your decision. Many people around the country do this very same volunteer work this time of year. Your not alone, and there is no wrong way of deciding. Everyone has real problems, and hardships in life, so the letters that you choose will all be "the right" ones. Keep in mind that you are helping people, you should feel very proud of what your doing. God will guide your hands and heart, so just keep doing what your doing, being a good person... Blessed Be

i think u r saying paranoid?, anyway, just do the best u can, it will be okay. don't get upset because u r not perfect, it is okay. skim them and set aside enough time to reread through the ones u think are most worthy and reread those.
if u have 4 hours to do it, skim all u can for 3 hrs, picking out the ones u can narrow it down to and then use the last hour to reread those and pick the number of those u are allotted.
most of all, remember, it is okay. it really is fine. they have problems and u did not cause the problems, u did not design the system for selecting the worst ones, u have no control over the number of letters received. IT IS OKAY. DO AS GOOD AS U CAN AND LET IT BE OKAY.
good luck

Sorry this sounds very tough for you.1st find out what he does with the letters you don't pick if he throws them away take them home and give them to a local church that can help or you and your friends can make a helping party and try to do what you can. But if you have to pick on a whim, try to look for the families with no money, shelter or home. seperate them and then ask yourself what's more important to you having a shelter or food ( even though both are very very important) then move to the kids wish classify if there toy dreams, wishful thinking, or dreams that can come true. break down the letters by heart after you break em' down for your boss.

Don't feel responsible for something that the radio station should do. If the letters are too many and they are really sincere in granting their wishes and not just get commercial mileage then they should hire more people to read the mails and put "some heart" into the wishes on the day of the birth of Christ.
Just try as good as you can and if you can't finish it hey a man can only read so much in a day. Tell the radio station to grant all the wishes then you wont feel guilty

man just relax and take a deep breath.
Now choose the letters that u seem to be fair and then after a while get the letters that u think need a second chance to be looked over and then pass them onto ur boss. The ones that r really stupid just toss them aside cause they will not make sense to ur boss. Hope this helps man :)

Yes you are getting paranoid lol.
You have got to know that most of the people that write those letters are not really serious about what they are saying in them.
What you need to do it just take the letters with a grain of salt as the old saying goes.
You are getting way to serious about them so just relax and read and then give you opinion on them, nothing more or less.

If you are not directly on the radio, does the person that is on the radio tell them that there are so many, and the response is overwhelming, that it is impossible to get through them all but what they can get through they will, Just pray about it, and God will show the special letters that you need to read. and don't blame yourself you are doing a great service.God Bless

Maybe you can take some of that guilt that you are feeling and make an effort to help some homeless people during the holidays or something that put you in direct face to face contact with the person that you are helping. A job is a job and as long as you give 100% there should be no remorse in your head and no questions left to answer.

Have a letter reading get-together with your friends a couple times per week. Let each read a stack or two and pick out their fave to narrow down the number you have to make a choice from.
