Volunteer with a Golden Retriever rescue and prove your worth and your interest in caring for and helping Golden Retrievers. That would be the best way to prove you are worthy of fostering a Golden Retriever.

I live in an apartment and it really depends on the organization and your landlord! The place in town that gets foster homes refuses to foster to apartments, and the rescues in town won't adopt out to an apartment, so I have to go about other ways to find dogs. In the end, not knowing if you have had a dog in an apartment before, it is a lot of work because they can't just be let out the back door in the yard for exercise or relieve themselves.

My biggest trick: a 100 metre nylon rope with a clasp tied to the end in a nearby park/baseball diamond.

It depends on where you live..most Animal Rescue places require you to have a house with a backyard and a fence and sometimes even the person needs to be home most of the day depending on the problem with the dog.
But if it's only for fostering and it's temporary they may let you.

Check with the foster group and see. The only problem I foresee is most pet rescues require backyards for certain breeds. They may can foster homes for pets that indoors living, i.e., for older dogs or for dogs with health concerns or limitations. Also check with the apartment office, you may need to pay a pet deposit.

Good Luck.

It depends on the rules of your apartment complex. Some rescue groups say dogs should only be indoors (except to go out on a leash to be walked or to do their business), others insist you have a fenced yard. Sometimes it depends on the needs of the individual dog. Check with local groups to see if there is one who will work with your situation. And bless you; there is such a need for people willing to do this!

Most agencies are pretty strict about having a fenced yard and they usually like for their fosters to own the home. Look into your local agencies and see what their guidelines are. Good Luck.

Here are some of the GR rescues I know of. If they are not in your reagon contact them any way and they can point you in the right direction.

Each dog will have different needs and each rescue has their own rules. It never hurts to inquire and find out.

Good luck and I wish there were more people out there who would be willing to do just what your asking.

Have you ever had a Golden Retriever? They are big dogs and tend to be exuberant. They need room!

E-mail the organization you are interested in helping. They'll be able to answer all your questions. Also-your landlord needs to agree.

The big question is does your apartment allow pets?
