It sounds like you are both candidates for more exercise. Get into a routine of daily walking, your dog will love you for it. You don't have to start out walking 5 miles, work up to longer distances over time. And, just think, if you're both out walking
you're not eating. Good luck.

Sure - both of you need to cut back on how much you eat (and in your case, probably also what you eat). For your dog, cut back his food approx. 25% and don't give him any treats at all - except for raw carrots or green beans!
Then, both of you need to exercise more. Go out for walks a couple of times a day. Remember that the extra weight didn't go on over night, so you can't expect to lose it all at once.
You need to start out gradually, building up stamina. Increase both length and speed of your walks gradually. As your dog's weight comes off, he'll want to exercise more - throw a ball for him, play chase, etc.
Have fun, both of you, all the exercise together is also great bonding time!

For your dog, start by reducing the amount of food you feed. On average a cup of dry dog food is approx. 350 calories. If your dog will eat veggies, substitute an equal amount of dog food with green beans, carrots, mixed veggies, canned pumpkin(not pie filling), sweet potatoes.
Then start taking your dog for walks. I walk mine about a mile several times a week. If the area you walk in is safe for off leash, throw a ball/toy for your dog if it will retrieve.
Take some water along for your dog.
You will be surprised how fast the weight will drop.
Just for info: 1 lb. over weight on a dog is equal to 10 lbs. on a human.

For your dog I suggest cutting WAY back on the table scraps and treats and making sure you stick to an appropriate food amount (consult your vet if you are unsure how often and how much he should be fed).
Also, exercise is the main key to losing weight! Make sure you are taking one hour walks daily at a brisk pace, and maybe even (if you are both able to) work it up to jogging.

Go to the vet. There is stuff you can give your dog, so he doesn't as much. But still eat what he needs to, and take a walk around a park or through it. Hope it helps, Layla

Feed the dog the same, but exercise him more. More walks, more playing fetch and more going through obedience training.
If you must give him treats, make them small pieces of cooked chicken.
You can limit your calorie intake to 2000 per day and drink alot of water.

Start walking at leas 1/4 of a mile a day. If you can push it up to a mile a day you can burn that excess weight off real fast.

Take your weight problems to the diet section! As for your dog, you should have your vet really tell you if he is overweight! Cutting back on his food to help him lose weight can be very unhealthy if you dog was at a great weight! In the case of your dog, ask for a vet's opinion!
