The Roman Catholic Church is the only true Christian Church. Why? Because it was started by St. Peter, who was personally asked by Jesus Christ to be the rock of his church. It's been around since the beginning. No matter what anybody says, or what anybody thinks they know, they can't change history as it happened.

Ergo, the Catholic Church is responsible for Christianity's crimes against humanity. Notably, the four Crusades, and the Medieval Inquisitions.

However, in modern times, the Fundamentalist Christian Right is what's causing the most problems. They promote violence against other religions and they promote prejudice.

I'm all most fully convinced, that within the next 40 years, the Christian Right will be the death of me. The ones I truly feel sorry for are the other Christians - Catholics, Methodists, and the like. You're all going to be forced to convert, or be tortured. I'm an Atheist. They'll just execute me.

Use the bible to determine who are true Christians, Do they follows Jesus' Example, Do they Love their neighbour, even enemies. Matthew 5:43-48; 1 John 3:18; 1 Corinthians 13: 1- 8; Do they show the Fruitage of a Christian. Galatians 5: 22, 23; Do they obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29) Do they show self-sacrificing love. (John 13:34, 35) Just a few bible principles can help you ID a true Christian. Search the bible for the principles that form the standard to be a true Christian. Then you can Indentify all those who are not.

The term "true Christian" isn't collective, it is individual. Christianity isn't defined by a religion, it is defined by Christ. I have no doubt there are people in all the religions you mentioned that are truly following Jesus. I also have no doubt that each can and most likely has been exploited by people driven to achieve personal and/or political gain.

Funny in a way but also disturbing...is it really all that funny to advocate discrimination against a whole group of people because of group characteristics or behaviors they may or may not share? If I had said "Catholics" (for example only), does that mean all Catholics are to blame for Christianity's crimes against humanity? Sounds suspiciously close to one of the greatest crimes against humanity...another "-ism" people use to justify all sorts of hate.

I've never seen a "Christianity" commit a crime against humanity.

I have seen humans commit crimes against humanity.

I have seen humans who call themselves "Christians" commit crimes.

And, to be honest, I've seen Christians commit "crimes." Me, for instance. I must confess I drove over ths speed limit at some point today, and probably didn't QUITE come to a complete stop at that stop sign. I may have even had a bad thought in my head about my wacky boss who felt that the day before Thanksgiving was a good time to call a critical project meeting at the last minute.

Fortunately, Jesus has already paid for my sins, so I confess them and move on to serving Him as best I can.

To answer your "question," any followers of those religions you listed might be Christians, or they might not be. The qualifications for being a "TRUE" Christian have nothing to do with the name on the door of the church you enter on Sundays.

Jesus said it as clearly as it can be said, as recorded in Mark 1:14-15 "Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”

If you truly do these two things, you are a Christian.

Therefore, please do as Jesus commanded. Tonight.

The word Christian literally means "Christ believers" or those who believe in christ. So all those religious denominations who believe that Jesus is Christ our savior can be called Christian.

Unfortunately christians do have a dark history of fighting and killing those who did not believe or convert to Christianity. It's a sad part of our church history, but it did happen.

The Crusades is one, the witch hunts are another, burning someone at the stake would be another example. Like Joan of Arc which the Catholic Church declared a saint. The funny thing is, it was the Catholic church who burned her at the stake.

I don't understand how anyone can say that the Church was not guilty at one point in time of crimes against humanity. Any killing, whether in the name of God or not, is completely immoral. Afterall God did say Thou Shall Not Kill.

But these atrocities were not the fault of God or Jesus. It was the fault of human beings, and their free will. People fear what they do not understand, and these Christians didn't understand why other's could not accept Jesus and God as Lord and savior. It was the fault of man (as in human kind), not God.

The true Christians are judged by God. And true Christians are those who has repent, believe and do the will of God.

I don't think St Peter is going to stop us at those pearly gates and ask us what denomination we may be. God doesn't look at this as being the good enough Christian or he's one of the good ole boys, let him in. This will not happened.

As far as Christian crimes against humanity, No true Christian would do such a horrific thing.

A true Christian is not defined by their religion but by the person they are abiding and obeying God's law.

Crimes against humanity are to be blamed on the individuals who carries out these acts and no one else.

Depends on who you ask...my criterion for a Christian: belief in Christ. By the way, it was the individuals who are to blame for crimes against humanity, not the religion.

It's not your responsibility to put the blame on anyone. Anyone who believes in god is a christian. These kind of worries aren't yours, be happy with your own life and what you have done and that you are a good person.
