uh, no... the last thing I baked was a disaster.
I'm actually eating pie right now while I type... mmmm
Pope here. see, I even got this special way I eat... I don't start from the inside and work my way to the crusty outer part... I start at the crust and work my way in. better that way.

Yes, at this very moment, I have 2 apple and one pumpkin in the oven.. That's such a funny question, I always feel so unique, but really I am just baking a couple of pies (in MD) like other people everywhere. Happy Thanksgiving. I hope you find sth to be thankful for. I am working on being grateful, which is hard. I also made 2 batches of stuffing and two other pumpkin pies tonight, and managed to make fajitas for dinner tonight (chopped some thin flap meat and seared in pan w peppers and onions and served w warmed up thin corn tortillas)

I am not baking a pie at this moment but I am certainly hoping and praying that the place where I am visiting for Thanksgiving tomorrow is baking one or two pumpkin pies with me in mind, specifically. Because by gosh, they'd better be prepared. YUUUUUMMMMMYYY!!!

Just two of the same....This is one of our favorites but I will have to hide them until tomorrow....in the Fridge...which can be somewhat hard to do,,,but if I don't hide them,,,,they will be gone tomorrow...I got this from one of the James Beard books and it is delicious..so I thought I would share it...
Southern Chess Pie
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons lemon juice
9" pastry shell, uncooked, I use Keebler..
Cream the butter and sugar and add the egg yolks one at a time. Beat thoroughly after each addition.
Blend in the grated lemon rinds, the salt and the lemon juice.
Spread filling into the pie or you can use 6 tart shells and bake in a 350° oven for 25-30 minutes. Cool completely
You will need to double this recipe to make two,,of course...Happy Thanksgiving to all...and I pray all your familys make it home on time...
