I have NOT tried Scientology. This is because I've done enough research to know that it's completely bunk, considered total nonsense by the relevant authorities, and that the official organization (The "Church" of Scientology) which allows adherents to move up through the "spiritual ranks" is nothing more than a shady business and a dangerous cult masquerading as a religion.

The organization, by means of L. Ron Hubbard’s self created psychotherapy technique called “Dianetics”, claims to be able to help rid members of any & all mental constraints including but not limited to emotional scarring (from this & "past" lives) due to "engrams" (past negative experiences stored in our unconscious mind), psychological disorders & chemical imbalances (the solution is to convince members that these things don't actually exist) & drug dependence (including legally prescribed psychopharmaceuticals which counteract the effects of psychological disorders Scientologists believe to be nonexistent). Their “treatment” of substance abuse includes little more than massive doses of vitamins and extended sessions in a sauna.

Scientology has taken a very hostile stance towards psychiatry & psychiatric drugs irrespective of the fact that some people require medication to remain adequately functional during everyday life. It doesn’t recognize legitimate conditions like autism, epilepsy, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or ANY neurological disorder / chemical imbalance at all, & the “church” has been known to withhold prescription pharmaceuticals from members (often with harmful & deadly results). The “Church” blames psychiatry for the Holocaust, as well as school shootings & even September 11th. It’s been suggested that Hubbard’s vehement opposition was born of the psychiatric community’s rejection of his “tech” as a valid treatment method, but it’s also possible that Hubbard chose psychiatry as a scapegoat. Organizations like Scientology are notorious for villainizing a specific out-group because their “stand against the enemy” fosters cohesion within said organization, & psychiatry was an effective rallying point considering many people already distrust & oppose the mental health profession.

To be blunt, Scientology is a cult. It employs semi-legitimate psychotherapy & self-help methods to keep people loyal & convinced of its merit while it simultaneously sucks them dry financially & attempts to keep them far away from ANYONE, even friends & family, who would dissuade them from remaining in such a harmful situation. It bullies all known critics, opponents, “enemies”, etc, often through malicious litigation & character assassination. It’s a particularly greedy as well as manipulative & dangerous cult that takes its anti-psychiatry fanaticism to deadly limits.

Whoever on this message board says that Scientology cant help anyone has probably never done a service in Scientology or got the wrong ideas on what the church does by reading some strange material.

I have been involved in Scientology for 4 years and the gains and wins i have had from this technology is just fabulous.

I've become more able to communicate to people, and handle the problems with others. I have a whole new outlook on life. And its one that looks good. And although this planet has got some serious problems, i can do something about it.

There are soooo many ways to learn about Scientology. The easiest way to to read Mr. Hubbards basic books on the subject.

They are available online at the churches publishering website http:// www.bridgepub.com

To learn about Dianetics visit http://www.dianetics.org
The official Scientology website is http://www.scientology.org

Scientology is kind of helpful, but kind of depressing at the same time. In Scientology the belief is that there isn't an afterlife, which gets me upset. Some people can deal with hearing that though, but as for me I'd rather imagine that there would be something after death.
Scientology is pretty logical at the same time too. I think as time goes on more people are going to turn towards Scientology because it's a "religion" based purely on things that scientists believe to be true.

Yep & yep.

Best thing I've done in this life (or any other ;-) ) is my use of scientology spiritual technology. I do not recommend involvement with the church of scientology however. I quit involvement with that organization 25 years ago over the abusive practices of the (at that time new) management.

I practice scientology in the freezone which is the international community of independent scientologists.

It appears such as you hit a sore spot of their cult. Scientology has long gone to nice lengths to silence their competitors, even to dedicate Murder. So do not be amazed in the event you get a few critical threats from them. As for Yahoo, sure they're additionally hampering your freedom of speech, combat the violations.

Yes, and majorly.
Thru highschool I was very bad at socializing. Speaking in groups was so bad that I was laughed at for trying.

I took a Personal Communications course from Scientology, and a Better Studying course. I guess the better studying thing probably helped me in my jobs just to get thru life. But I majorly credit the comm course for improving my life in general. I became the guru of the group and the empathy guy that people came to. I served many terms as president of various clubs. I became a very casual public speaker, demonstrator, lecturer. I was not only good at it but enjoyed it.

I suppose their other courses are just as good. At the time I wasnt really bothered by peer pressure, and didnt have drug worries so I didnt take those. I saw some great results in others from those courses tho.

The people who feel they are "answering" your question by posting lots of pastings from hate sites kindof confuse me. I never saw or heard of the things they post about. But I guess that was just my experience with it.
