Why is it that so many Christians, Muslims, etc, assume that Atheists or Agnostics are hapless, angry, presumptuous, and consciousless people with no future they look forward to and who care for nothing but themselves? Other than question your beliefs, what have they as an organized group done that would make you think this?
Can you not sympathize with why people might find it hard to believe in God as a result of what organized religion has caused for humanity?
I come only to get an understanding. I truly want to know.

But Rev. Jerry, to worship God just IN CASE he exists is no way to live. That's almost like buying insurance just in case you get in a car accident.

Because, by definition, we are anarchistic towards all religion. We don't believe in anything that anyone from any religion believe in.

Be fair. Some of us ARE hapless, angry, presumptuous, and consciousless people with no future to look forward to, and who care for nothing but ourselves. I know I am. But that's because we're jerks, not because we're atheists. I think people form this stereotype of atheists because they don't understand how people can have an emotionally satisfying and moral life without the guidance of religion. I also think they find our questioning of religion threatening.

They assume that about atheists to make it more palatable for them to dismiss our views and our questions about their beliefs.
To do otherwise would force them to accept our questions about their beliefs as serious. To think about such potentially blasphemous thoughts is considered sin. Hence, the defense mechanism of painting the atheist hapless, angry, presumptuous, and consciousless, hoping that some of these donated adjectives will cross over to atheist views as well.

It seems to me many of us (atheists) care more deeply about the human race. I don't think there is going to be some divine intervention for humanity and the only thing holding us together is us. We as a species will survive or fail on our own dime.

they are just lost sheep that have wondered the flock
wouldn't you rather serve and worship god
and find out there isn't one
then to not worship him and find out there is
its not a challenging thing you ask him into your heart and believe he is real bam and repent from sin and bingo bango your saved if you slip your forgiven he forgives you for your past present and future sins
Jesus was perfect was tempted by Satan 40 times in a row and didn't sin
try and go one day with out a sin its just so easy just excepting there isn't a lord it shows your weak minded and have no strong will power really most people just don't care and he wont care for you after death he will give you eternal life you live forever through him
