A 5 pound bag of potatoes should be plenty.I usually have 20 people for Christmas and use a 10 pound bag and have a little leftover.
Better too much than not enough.

I say make 16 at least, you have to think , that maybe someone will want seconds. And the potatoes are all different sizes.

How big are the potatoes? If they're of average size and to be used as a side, about one per person.

They say you should use 2 potatoes per person.
so 12 x 2 = 24.
you should peel about 24 potatoes.

Use a whole bag... Red or brown.
cook them with a bit of fresh garlic.
Leave the skins on... So good this way.
Also, put sour cream, milk, butter, salt, pepper, a sprinkle of Lawyries garlic salt and tiny chopped green onions.
YUMMMMMMM

i would use about 16 to twenty depending on the size, make sure you peal them and cut them up in to quarters or so, if you dont they take longer to cook. if they dont work you can always buy them in the box. good luck.
