360!!!
I have both, I hate the PS3 set-up screen, and use it only to play blu-rays now. Strong points of Ps3 is rechargable remote and blu-ray, however it sucks that you have to use the short recharging cord when it goes dead. My 360 had the death rings but microsoft fixed it and was returned in less than 7 days including me shipping it to them, but has worked flawless for over a year now. I like the 360 operation menu, the feel of the control (I get craps playing the PS3 over time), rechargable batteries for remote, graphics, and everything else. If it was not for blu-ray, the PS3 would collect more dust than it does now and I would have sold it.If my 360 does ever die, I will sell my PS3 to get another 360.

Oh thank god somebody asked this question! Whatever you do, do not, I repeat, do not, get the xbox 360. No matter what anyone tells you ps3 is the best system. I have a 360 currently but I am switching over very soon because I do not want to go through the whole " HOLY @#!$ MY XBOX IS BROKEN!". The xbox runs on crappy parts and will break down in 1-2 years depending on how much you play. The ps3 has less then 1% of all systems broken. Not to mention then graphics are amazing and it has a blu-ray player (which would run you $400 if you bought it seperately).Seriously, get a ps3

(This should really be in the "Games and Gear" section).
My advice: look at the game selection and buy based on what SOFTWARE is available.
I have the 360 and I have had the 'red ring of death'. Microsoft fixed it for free.
Microsoft is quietly trying to be the main provider of HD movies by downloading via xbox live. Many people believe this type of service is the 'next thing' after BluRay and HD-DVD. So with a 360 - you set.
DO NOT get the 360 because of the add on the HD-DVD drive to dive into this format. It uses a USB connection and they have to do a lossy compression to get it to work. A stand alone player for $200 is better.
If you want to get into BluRay - go with the PS3. It is the gold standard of BluRay players.
Right now - I believe the 360 wins in terms of outstanding games. The PS3 is still struggling to find a "must have" game.

DEFINTELY GO WITH THE PS3. THERE ARE SO MANY ERRORS STILL WITH THE XBOX 360 THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO BE CONSTANTLY SENDING IT IN TO HAVE IT FIXED, YEAH IT MAY HAVE MORE GAMES, BUT THE PS3 IS BETTER QUALITY!! MY HUSBAND BOUGHT ONE, AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER WITH IT, AND HES HAD IT SINCE MARCH. NOW A FRIEND'S BRO HAS AN XBOX 360 AND HAS TO HAVE HAD IT REPARED AT LEAST THREE TIMES ALREADY!
