The fact that you have to ask speaks volumes about how silly a quetion it is to begin with.

If may not be the best taste to make a bet on the death of any ones family.
I wonder all the time about Steve Fossett. After all of the incredible and dangerous records he set, very strange to totally disappear!

Tasteless, rude, and thoroughly offensive.
As for the Fossett search, it's suspended. That is, search efforts are being carried out as part of other operations vs. being a primary mission (the searchers having long passed any reasonable expectation of finding him alive weeks ago). Sooner or later someone will find a bit of wreckage that will lead to the remains of Mr Fossett and his aircraft....

What on Earth would drive your interests to be so base as to throw out some Internet nonsense? If anything, Richard Branson has risen above this drivel and continues to throw his money at the future... all for it. Steve Foster's demise, and I think there is no other explanation, has not been poorly documented. The rescue missions have been halted until there is some tangible evidence of his crash. This man lived as he died, on the edge of extremes and he will be memorialized as such. God rest his soul in the heaven of those who take life by the horns and throw off the impossible.

1. Yes, it is always poor form to bet when someone (and their family) will die.
2. Steve Fossett's disappearance is updated quite regularly in USA media. You're either not from around here, or you're not watching enough television.

Works both ways kid!!
If you are so dumb as to ask "is it in bad taste" to place a bet on somebody's death, DON'T ASK THE QUESTION!!
Even in the military section of Y/A!!!

I don't think it's in bad taste to bet on when someone who does something stupid will kick the bucket.
I think it is in bad taste that it took some rich guy going missing for them to locate 8 other aircraft crashed, some dating back decades.
