Why does the left earlobe become warm or hot at times when the right earlobe feels normal?

I'd be relaxing when I suddenly feel my left earlobe become increasingly warm or sometimes hot to the touch, whereas my right earlobe is perfectly normal. It's not painful at all. Not a common occurance but it does happen from time to time. Wondering why this is...
