What can i do to decrease my stuttering?
im doing a presntation on monday,
and whenever i do them i freeze up, get really cold
and my nerves make my stuttering twice as bad as it normally is,
im in grade ten and you would all think kids at this age are mature, but their not, well at least not the ones here
my teacher wants me to do it, because he thinks the only way i can get better is if i actually take risks, which is true...so any thoughts on what i can do to calm down?
i dont just stutter when im nervous, i stutter all the time
yesterday i had a dream that i was in my socials class and this girl said something weird so the whole class burst out laughing

You shouldn't worry about what the other students in the class are thinking. I was in the 10th grade many years ago, and let me tell you....THEY DON'T WANT TO SIT AND LISTEN TO OTHER KIDS TALK AS MUCH AS YOU DON'T WANT TO TALK IN FRONT OF THEM!!!
Try practicing in front of the mirror, in front of your family or some close friends. You will have to tell them you need to do it quite a few times. The more you practice and become comfortable with what you have to say, the more focused you will be on the project at hand instead of your stammer.
Also a good thing to do is in the room where you have to speak, don't look at the other students, find focal points in the back of the room to concentrate on. Pick 3 or 4 and practice looking at those areas! Good luck!

I saw on television once a a show about a young man who had a stuttering problem. He wanted badly to be able to run for class president. He ended up getting a device that fit into his ear and it completely stopped stuttering. I heard of one device called the speech easy device. It looks like a tiny hearing aid. I know that this will probably not help you for this Monday but I think it would be worth checking it out. As for your presentation, try practicing beforehand. Try some relaxation techniques before hand, like concentrating on your breathing. I wish you the best. Good Luck, I am sure that you will do fine.

There is a famous country singer who has stuttered all his life . Only when he sings does the stuttering cease. Maybe you will find a way similar to a musical connection. Music and tunes use a separate part of the brain from language. Try to be less conscious about it. Your friends will like you the way you are so be there when they need you to help in life and depression. Do things that use very few words like, well, there are times we don't need to talk. As far as a presentation use a Microsoft reader and just type your report into it. Your OS may have one. I used it with windows2000 and had the computer read my books faster than I could read. Now I am into videos . Cheers.

Stuttering is, as I imagine you already know, caused by your lack of confidence. You need ways to boost your confidence a little. The best advice that helped me is, almost all of the people you're talking to have a fear of public speaking as well, especially in high school. They aren't trying to see the things you do wrong, they want to hear what you have to say. No matter what happens, anyway, it will all be forgotten by tomorrow, so simply let loose and talk like you would to a person you're comfortable with.

i'd like to tell you that if you stand on your head and wave your arms your studdering would go away, but i doubt you'd believe me. you shouldnt anyway... you just have to really know your presentation. i hate speaking at all in class - really really hate it- but sometimes you just have to do it anyway. so you get up there in front, you stumble through, stutters and all, and you know ahead of time you wont be perfect. but you also know your stuff so when you do stutter or stumble or compleatly blotch a paragraph you can try to fix it. the good news is everyone else is nervious too and are probably looking over their notes more than they pay attention to you.

lots of luck!!

Mel Tilis the country singer stuttered all his life , but when he sang it stopped. Get off by your self and try to sing the presentation, keep slowing it down, it might help. I had a son who stuttered, when he started to speak I would stop him and make him start over, eventually he got over it. You will overcome this if you keep trying. hang in there
