I want to start a volunteer program in my community. Do yall have any ideas of what i can do, that may seem interesting to the whole community, and are there any rules you have to follow by your city government or can you just do it?

Individual organizations have their own policies and procedures when it comes to volunteers, as well as a unique focus to their volunteering programs. You say you want to "start a volunteer program", but there is *already* volunteering going on in your community. Do you mean you want to start a program to encourage more people to volunteer? If so, you start by talking to organizations that involve volunteers -- animal shelters, arts organizations, schools, soup kitchens, etc. -- and you find out what they need when it comes to volunteers. Do they need to reach more professionals as potential volunteers? More young people? More low-income populations? More people during regular working hours? It would be wrong to go out and promote volunteering without first talking to these organizations that involve volunteers, to see what their needs are regarding volunteers. Otherwise, you will create a lot of interest and enthusiasm for volunteering, only to have people turned away from organizations because they aren't what the organizations need.

It sounds like you had better start with an attorney and get some advice. There is a lot to starting a program and a ton of red tape but if you are willing and this is your calling you will be successful so Good luck and May God Bless YOU!!!
