Due to the problem the little chihuahuas have with low blood sugar food should be available at all times.
If not tehy should be fed at least 8 times even through the night so they don't get sugar drops.
How Old is he, please email me and I can give you sonme other tips with a small chihuahua

I just did some quick calculations based on the raw feeding guidelines of between 2 and 3% of adult body weight per day. Assuming your dog is fully grown, it needs about 1.2 ounces or 35 grams per day. This is based on 2.5% a day but obviously no-one wants the same amount to eat everyday. Adjust the amount based on the activity level for the day.

The best way to judge the correct amount to feed is to watch your dog. If you can see a waist indent from above and can feel his ribs when you run your hand down his side then great. If you can't then feed him less and exercise more. If the ribs are too pronounced then give him more.

I give my 6 lb. chihuahua about 3 oz. for breakfast and 3 oz. for dinner. That is what her vet recommended. I guess it all depends on the age/frame of the dog. I also fill the bowl of food to the top with water because she doesn't drink otherwise! She actually was hospitalized for dehydration about a year ago and I've been adding the water since.

It will usually say on the label on your dog food. There are specific foods for different sizes and ages of dogs. I usually feed my puppies more then recommended because they are still growing and I feel that there is no harm in giving them food if they're hungry. Good luck, hope this helps =)
