For those savvy on the Election 07, you'll know what I'm referring to - the liberal volunteers handing out fake "how to vote cards" appealing to Anti-Muslim sentiment. MP Jackie Kelly has likened it to a Chaser style prank and as a Chaser fan, I find that outright insulting to the Chasers.

The Chasers mock politics in general but in a way which has no serious consequnces (minus the APEC stunt but it only got themselves into a legal mess.)
Handing out fake How to Vote cards however, is the political equivalent to defamation and should be criminalised. Anyone who thinks this was fun is nuts.
Your thoughts?

krakkati - come on. What the Chasers do and what the libs did are different in nature. The libs actions of putting out fake voting cards are:
- lying to the public AND
- equivalent to political defamation, implying that Labour supports the bali bombers.
That's outright misleading, but hey, coming from a party with a leader like John Howard, what do you expect?

Imwanda - come on! What the liberal's did amounted to political defamation. If labour committed a similar crime and then excused it as a fun prank I would criticise them just the same. Thankfully, labour isn't that dishonest
