I'm doing a rpoject on how plants never get sunburned. I read an article that said that plants have this enzyme called the scissor which undo gene damage from UV rays. Does anyone know anything about that?

First, plants do get sunburned, but less readily than us humans. I would suggest that the plants ability to withstand constant bombardment by UV radiation has to do with the pigments found in the plant's chloroplasts. Pigments are any organic chemical that absorbs lights (UV is light). The plant has pigments called caretenoids (orange/red) and anthocyanins (blue/purple) that absorb light outside the far red range that chlorophyll 1 and 2 absorb. Anthocyanin is a pigment that can absorb the UV radiation and can pass the energy along to the reaction center, where the rest of photosynthesis can occur.

So, briefly, the plant can take the otherwise damaging UV radiation and convert it into a small amount of energy.

sorry but you got your info wrong - discard the source of it as misconception or oversimplification

firstly these repair enzymes are not limited to plants, you personally have them too. if it didnt you would die

plants get sunburned: the leaves get scorched, especially if the weather gets hot suddenly

besides, high intensity of sunlight can damage their chloroplasts, although they have specific ways of protecting their chloroplasts - these are what i would call sun protection that is limited to the plant world. because chloroplasts are for receiving and harnessing the energy of the sun, they are also susceptible to damage if they are receiving too much of it

Maybe they don't get sunburned but I've seen many a plant shrivel up and die if its gotten too much sun and its a plant which doesn't require it.

They can get scorched, especially if watered in the morning or during the hot time of day

This leaves brown marks on the leaves
