if i have a credit score of 717 is this considered decent credit?
im kinda new to this subject.

Yes, 717 is a good score. Not a great score, but good. Scores top out at 850. I think 678 is the average score.

You should have no trouble getting auto loans, credit cards, etc.

Here's some tips to raise that score:

1. Make sure you pay the minimums on time every month.

2. Make sure you keep your outstanding balances low. They use a ratio of total credit available vs. current credit balance. You want to keep that below 30%. Below 20% is even better.

3. Don't close older accounts. They like to see a long history. Even if you never use that card anymore, just throw it in a drawer or even cut it up, but leave the account open.

Probably. A mortgage lender will want to know if this is your highest, mid or lowest score. For purchasing anything else, they'll droll when you walk in the door.

Don't blow it by buying something you don't need. Fantasize about it and come back 48 hours later. You may find your desire diminished.
