This was inspired by someone else's question. I know Christians are perscuted in Pakistan and such and that's disgusting, as is all persecution for beliefs alone, but America? No matter how you define 'America', (North America, South America or just the U.S.A.), Christians are still the majority...

Uh... MG, the question read 'becomes MORE rampant' (emphasis my own). Not simply 'becomes rampant'.

Well lets see, their children have to suffer through being taught a "theory" that is based on nothing but lies and hate against the bible.
They also only get to spend over ten million a year on abstinence only sex education. How we will ever teach our children about chastity and how NOT to use condoms with only ten million???
umm...they are not allowed to put religious monuments on government property anymore (usually) and have to allow other religions to have equal respect. Gosh it's hard to share the limelight!

(I hope my facetious tone is clear lol)

Edit: Ben, I live in Utah and I am an atheist. I have no problems getting a job and everyone is nice to me. In fact, people in general are nicer here then San Diego and it is a lie that you cannot get a job if you are not Mormon. The Mormon people out here are very nice.

O'Reilly said so! And that's all it takes, is for one person to say something about an "attack" on something they deem as "Christian" and they all cry persecution, while they still go to Church (you know, those buildings that are on damn near every corner in every city) on Sundays and Wednesdays. Or watch it on one of their many Christian Networks on TV.

Basically, if anyone from another religion, or lack of religion, says they want Equality, they view that as an attack on their own religion and use everything they can to try to make America look like Theocracy. One here said the Almighty Dollar is king here... yes, it is... just look at Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyers. What other religion in America has people like that????

By the tyranny of the minority.
Christians must pay taxes to support the teaching of things to their children that are contrary to their beliefs.
Christians have to pay taxes for a women to be able to get an abortion.
Discrimination in employment, in contracting, the list could go on and on.
The Christian is under attack in the U.S.A.
Most however, like myself, find solis in our Faith.
I find myself praying for the lost, and that Gods will be done,
and continue on my walk in Faith, without grumbling.
I find it easier having been forewarned, in Scripture, of the things we now see in our society, and the world.
I now, am not grumbling, only answering a question.

It is well with my sole!
I pray the same is true for you.

I think there's alot of bashing here on Y and that goes for
ALL btw, whether you believe or not.
Edit-
I really don't know why it bothers some people so much
if we believe, if people would not "shove it down throats"
maybe some would not be so bothered by it. Some
will probably always be bothered by Christianity anyway.
Anyway, I learned not to "shove it down throats"
unless someone asks me what I believe and I never
told people "they are going to hell." I have gay friends.
I also get a laugh out of how some people define the
term "True Christians." I do wonder sometimes though
if some people on R&S would like to really persecute
Christians by what they write (note I said some) and
that also goes for ALL (religious or non religious).
Anyway, name calling and cutting each other down on R&S is not something I enjoy.
"And that's all I have to say about that."

Many here think that listening to some of these ridiculous remarks and comments here is a form of persecution; but it doesn't even scratch the surface.
American Christians occasionally have to stand up for their rights but most of the time we are vindicated.
Someday, we will be persecuted but right now we have it pretty swee.

I think they're persecuted by their own belief system. Most of them harbor a lot of guilt and are caught in a moral game.

They can't stand that they suddenly have to share the cookie jar.

That's a problem when you worship a martyr, you feel like you have to be persecuted in order to identify with it.

They define 'persecution' as 'not being able to put their religion in every single place they want it, whenever they want it, regardless of how everyone else is affected'. It's not 'persecution' when you live in a country that allows abortion. It's not 'persecution' when they teach evolution in science class. It's not 'persecution' when department stores put up Happy Holidays signs instead of Merry Christmas signs. It's not even close. Anyone who makes claims like that has no idea what the word 'persecution' means.

They are not persecuted. They have had special status for so long and now with a bit of criticism and failed social agenda they are feeling insecure.
