IT COULD ONE OF MANY THINGS THAT IS CAUSING THIS BUT.........................
I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU GET YOUR VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED TO FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE PROBLEM IS FIRST SO THEN YOU WILL HAVE SOME IDEA WHAT IS WRONG AS WELL AS WHAT TO EXPECT.
TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR ANY CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE PERSONAL SERVICE THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE.

In 1988 GM published a book on stalling problems associated with the 3.8 and 3800 engines. There are many causes to the symptom you describe. It must be diagnosed by testing several different circuits with electronic testers such as Digital Storage Oscilloscopes, DVOM's and on-board computer scan tools. The data needs to be analyzed and then the cause should be found.
It could be electrical or fuel supply related but only testing will find the problem effectively.
Would you let a doctor operate on you without diagnosis first?

Too many things can cause the same complaint to say. What you have to do is check PCM codes and data to see if that gives any clues. Check through all secondary ignition cables and spark plugs for corrosion or carbon tracking or being worn out. Check all spark plugs for the same. Check for air/fuel filters being plugged. Check fuel pressure, needs around 40-50 psi. After that, you will have to wait until it stalls and find which one of these systems is not working right and go from there.

Sounds like fuel delivery... quite possibly the fuel filter, maybe the fuel pump. Fuel filter is easy and inexpensive. Fuel pump is more involved and can be costly
