Its going to be messy no matter what you do but the easy way would be to have someone else hold the body while you grab the head hold it over a stump or block of wood of some sort and then SWISH goes the axe turkey doesnt feel a thing.
And dont go by one from the store those turkeys are "genetically modified" yucky : P
Ps im not sure but i think turkeys run around after there head gets cut of just like a chicken so watch out for that :)

You grab it by the legs pull the wings back into the same hand you are holding the legs with, get a sharp axe and a tree stump and holp the head against the stump then you reach back and take the head off in one swing while still holding the legs and wings, hold the body over the grass and let the blood drain for about a minute if you do it right you wont get anything on you at all, if you need some advice on de-feathering it just let me know

Go with the old favorite, the hammer. Personally I like to feel my hand on the birds neck as I send it off to Turkey Heaven.

Do not behead it, simply break its neck. Then you can pluck & draw it, and chop its noggin off just before popping it in the oven, by then the blood will have coagulated enough you will not have a mess!

Put him up on chopping block and let someone hold the body while you pull on his head and axe it. There's gonna be blood and some mess, there's no way around it unless you buy one from the grocery store.

my grandma used to snap their necks. it would still run around with it's neck broke, it does when you cut it's head of with an ax too. she was raised on a farm. i wasn't, so i refused to eat any. i still don't like turkey, i eat ham. so in my eyes, i would put a bib around it's neck, and tell it how lucky it was to be my pet instead of my dinner. i just couldn't eat anything i took care of, or looked in to it's eyes. it's a personal choice.
