Are apple seeds/cores toxic to dogs?

Question

Ive read in many places that they are.
Just read a rather knowledgeable person on here saying otherwise.

Not, I dont want your answer. Youre the reason I asked! :)

Seeds and pits of most friuts contain at least trace amounts of cyanide, and cyanide can accumulate in the system over time. I wouldn't allow an animal to eat them.

I just checked my list of toxic plants and foods that I hand out in Puppy Kindergarten and couldn't find cranberries or anything related to them on the list. I know that apples are not toxic but the seeds are bad for dogs. So core an apple before you give any to your dog. Mixed in the food the fruit will be in an appropriate quantity for a daily serving. Remember if you give apple to your dog for a treat that they shouldn't get anymore than about a quarter of a small apple daily. Too much fiber can constipate them. They don't have the enzyme in their systems to allow them to break it down efficiently.

The fruit of the apples is fine for dogs. But the seeds contain toxins.

Everything I have read states that apple seeds are not good for dogs. One or two probably wouldn't hurt them, but it's best to avoid them.
As Jennifer T said, they contain small amounts of cyanide, so why take the chance?

1 cup of apple seeds will kill a grown man . Think how sick a dog will get on just 3 cores .

Apple seeds contain cyonide so why take the chance, dogs don't generally eat apples anyway and who says that just because they answer questions here that a person is that knowledgable aout anything. Remember opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one.

IMHO this is quite recent. Only few years back, apple cores were acceptable.
Personally, I don't feed them.

My dogs have been eating ENTIRE apples for YEARS!!! My kids eat apple seeds and parts of cores also!!!!!!!!

As far as the arsenic thing....that is PEACH pits!!!! NOT apple seeds!!
*sorry, I think it is cyanide.
