I'm trying to raise money, and I'm thinking of going to each house in my community, and explaining what I'm trying to raise money for. They can donate as much as they want...like a dollar?

Would this be effective?

Probably not in my neighborhood, everyone would doubt, you would need some materials showing what you are doing and you would probably have to be known in the neighborhood already for it to work. If thats what you want to do go for it, be honest and when you tell someone something stick to it. And always look people in the eye, you can tell a lot about a person by body language.

Pick a specific organization to help so you can let them know where their money will be going...

You can try Link Ethiopia.
