Personally, I don't feel there is much difference at all. They are both methods of focusing energy with intention. I put meditation into the same category.

The greatest difference that I see is in activity. With prayer, Christians are usually instructed to ask for help and then let go. It tends to be a relatively passive exercise.
With a work done by a Pagan, whether it be a healing, seeking inspiration, seeking help in some issue, it is usually a case of the Pagan having a more active role, working WITH the Divine instead of expecting the Divine to do it all. It is about working in harmony with the Divine, not about personal power.
If anything, the way Pagans tend to work is closer to the way Christians in the first centuries approached their relationship with Jesus. Christians were expected to have and use gifts such as healing, prophesy, and the like. Healing is my own special gift. At least 90% of the works I've ever done have been about healing.
As a relatively active exercise, modern Christian prayer circles have more in common with pagan works than most Christians would like to admit. And the methods of Wicca have more to do with JudeoChristian mystery traditions than most Pagans would like to admit.
It's all connected, just with different names (and yes, I know that some Christians have an issue with "different names.") and perspectives.

Greetings! there are various diverse "kinds" of Christians, and Wiccans have the comparable potential to make your suggestions up on their particular "style". the two Faiths draw on historical sources: Ceremonial Magick, Gnostic Cosmology, is utilized by making use of Catholics, and by making use of a few Wiccans. A Prayer is a factor of formality, which may be an Adoration, a Devotion, an Initiation...the record is going on and on, and is no longer constrained to easily what's written in a "e book". Jesus IS "Believed in" by making use of Wiccans and different Pagans, however the amout of credibility provided in the "Bible" is often suspect. Many Wiccans think of Jesus grew to become right into a sturdy guy, and a healer, yet depart the definition of "what" he grew to become into to private concept. The Catholic faith, and their Rituals are crammed with "props", and as Wicca grew to become into defined after the Church got here into power, Wicca borrows from the comparable source simply by fact the Romans. So, no. there is a lot lots greater to Wiccan Ritual than "purely a Prayer", besides the incontrovertible fact that it form of feels you spot the relationship between the two Religions from a private attitude, and that's constantly a sturdy element. /!

well, it would depend on the emotional content, phrasing and intent of the prayer/spell but in essence there is no difference between them. a spell can be as humble and respectful as any prayer and a prayer can be just as demanding and haughty as any spell intoned by a witch. in both instances one addressing and seeking to commune with ones deity in order to make a request.

IMO, spells are just another form of prayer. My spells tend to use different items to help me focus, while prayers are words alone.

How do they differ? Well, for the biggest reason, prayer if prayed with a sincere heart in the name of Jesus, is heard by the Lord of all creation- the One who loved you enough to die fo you- casting a spell- not a relationship there I don't see.

The wording. That's about it.
Catholics use incense and rosary beads.
Lutherans just do the prayer.
Pagans usually incorporate nature more in their 'prayers'.

Christians believe the power comes from God.
Pagans and such believe they can control the power, and that it comes from them.
