Yes, you can (with HDMI -> DVI adapter or, if your monitor supports - only HDMI). But ther is going to be a problem with sounf (DVI doesn't support sound - you'll need a splitter). With HDMI - sound will be played via your monitor.

The answer above is wrong. The only DVI output slot in macbook pro is for video output not input. It means you can not use HDMI to DVI cable to connect PS3 and MacBook Pro.
But if you really want to do that, (I don't suggest you to do that because it is not cheap) you can buy this Elgato EyeTV Hybrid Analog/Digital TV Receiver (http://www.streetwise.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=150&products_id=4953). By using this you can play any game console in the MacBook Pro. The problem is the resolution is quite low (you must use S-Video).

I think this is the only way to achieve your goal.

in case you will locate a PS3 VGA cable, you need to use it with any computer screen. maximum greater modern video show gadgets even have HDMI inputs as properly. As for the Macbook, i do no longer think of it is available, because it has no video inputs, basically outputs. (if it has HDMI and VGA, you are able to hook it to an exterior computer screen, yet no longer vice versa.)
