I used limewire for aout two years. When I dowloaded music, it was really wonderful. Many artists that I enjoy were in files that I shared and was able to place on my computer. I never had any copyright issues or hassles with the government. I called several people in copyright infringement enforcement and was told that limewire downloading will never be prosecuted. However if you download from limewire and try to get money for what you have, you might be in a bit of trouble. When I started downloading porn, my computer became full of virus and spyware problems. Almost all of the porno comes with spyware. Limeware for audio only is my advice to you.

No because you don't know what your downloading. You can be possibly downloading a fake file filled with viruses. In addition, speeds vary and the RIAA is watching you O.o . Just to note, another anti-piracy organizations host fake files, this method is called entrapment. There is no visual difference between dupe files and real files, so if you download a file from Media Defender, they would record your ip address (your id on the internet) and send a letter to your isp requesting the name of the person. Then they would send you an infringing letter and what you downloaded. If you don't comply with their request, they can take you to criminal court. It's not illegal in Canada, though!

Yes, if you know what you are doing, don't download viruses and have virus protection software.

Just be careful! Also, filter results for things like "music" so that you don't accidently click on a .exe if it's supposed to be an .mp3.
