God has favorites.

Read especially verse 15. God is not a "respecter of persons" (in other words, he doesn't seek human approval, or show favoritism to someone because of their status or power). However, he most definitely has "favorites":
Israel (over other nations)
Abel over Cain
Jacob over Esau
Isaac over Ishmael
Joseph over all his brothers
etc. etc.
Whether he choses his favorites because of how we act, our faith or (most likely) because of his superior knowledge about all of us is something not specified in the bible.

I had a friend jokingly say the other day, "Jesus loves you, but I'M His favorite!!"
I think He chose who He chose because He spent a night in prayer and God revealed the 12 which were called to those positions. Yet, He loved them all. He loves all of us without reserve, though we each have different callings and positions. Some may be given a "special calling" like Joseph, Moses, Elijah, King David, or Billy Graham but it doesn't mean He loves them more. He won't love you less than He loves me nor vice-versa. He loves better than anyone else does or can! He loves each of us perfectly! :)

God pre-determines who is blessed with what. It is His desire for our lives that we are chosen to do His will. Some do, and have had greater experiences in their lives (like that person who is always lucky). But everyone has a place, it is written that we are chosen to be a part of the body of Christ, some are the hands, some are the feet, some are a simple muscle. But all are necessary for the Body of Christ to work as a whole. I hope this helps.

I agree with Jim Pettis, but I would like to add that God chose His favorites based on His own will and good pleasure alone, apart from any merit of the chosen.
We who belong to Him are chosen by grace, truly undeserved favor.
Because He chooses us, we choose Him.

The only 'favorite' that God ever claimed having was the Jewish people, which he favored as His people.
Individually, I would assume God has designs for various people and it is not in our realm of knowledge to know why he allows some to have greater experiences of Himself.

I'll answer the first question. The monotheist giants say that they are Gods favs because they all believe in Him. Basically, its like three siblings fighting over who's daddy's favorite.

the better area of following Catholicism is that the Catholic Church is the real Church all started via Jesus Himself, and that i understand that via following her Sacraments and teachings, on God and his countless love, i will attain Heaven. eternal happiness with God is a superb present, freely provided to me. i will additionally acquire Jesus Himself, basically in the time of the Catholic Church, in Holy Communion.

It is because of our desire. He does not force himself upon us. Do you open the door?
