Get an pernambuco (that's a special type of wood) bow OR a carbon fiber bow (Coda bows are the best in this department) They are all different, even the same model from the same maker, so make sure to try them out before you buy one. DON'T get a Glasser bow.

When you do try them out, do ALL sorts of bow strokes in different parts of the bow to compare response. You want to find one that can do it all!

Good luck!

You can always get brand name bows that are pretty expensive or carbon fiber bows. However, if you really want to get a good bow, go to a local store that specializes in violins and ask for bows made in France. In general, France produces the best bows.

The best you can afford. Go to your local music shop and see what they have. If there is a violin specialist so much the better. You may even be able to try a few out. Hope this helps
