I know it wasnt from food poisining because I was the only one that got sick after eating it, I have had it a few times in my life and have always gotten sick from it, but I know it is not a mind thing as the last time I didn't even know it was venison untill after I had already been sick. I know its not excatly an allergy its what they classify as a sensitivy but the doctor said that sensitivities can develop into allergies with out warning so, anyway I avoid it at all cost.

Yes. but, just becoming violently ill may or maynot be an allergic reaction.

I am allergic to beef. My family keeps making comments to me about me not wanting to eat veal, as it is a baby cow...I keep telling them, I LIKED VEAL...but, ALL BEEF makes my throat get tight, hard to swallow, and, then, I get Gastro-intestinal problems before the meal is over. I also get hives and wheezing.

I have no problems with venison though.

The venison COULD be under cooked....HAS to be cooked to a specific temperature or higher, OR it could have been allowed to be at the wrong temperature beforehand, allowing for bacteria to grow, giving you some kind of food poisoning. Cooking the meat to ANY temperature afterwards will NOT help this.

When I first had the problem with beef though, I alternated between having problems swallowing it, and having stomach problems after eating it.

Hope this helps answer your questions.

It is possible to be allergic to any meat. If you have problems with venison, you should also avoid elk and moose. Personally, I am allergic to all poultry. I cannot eat turkey or chicken. Unfortunately, poultry is put into a lot of processed meats. I think venison would be alot easier to avoid.
