Simply, get the PS3. By summer of 2008, you'll wish you had a PS3. 360 has more games for now... not for long. I would not put up with the 33% failure rate of the 360.

But if you want kid games, get the Wii.

But honestly, look at the system's exclusive titles. See which exclusives interest you the most. Who cares about multiplatform games - they come out on both systems. Just check on the exclusive games.

The PS3 has a lot more games that kids could play than the 360 which only really has shooting games that they would be too young for. On the PS3 there's Ratchet and Clank, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (good for exploring Hogwarts and using the pads motion controls to cast spells) and Folklore(more good use of motion controls).

Also Little Big Planet and Afrika are coming out next year, they look really interesting and the type of thing anyone can enjoy. A new Jak and Daxter ( my favourite platformer series) game is rumoured to be coming out.

As far as racing games go there's Motorstorm, Ridge Racer 7, Colin McRae: Dirt, Sega Rally as well as Juiced 2 and the Need for Speed series and Wipeout HD should be available to download soon. Next year Motorstorm 2 and Gran Turismo 5 will come out.

If you meant kid's shooting games then Ratchet and Clank and Jak should be enough. For more adult shooting games there's Haze and Killzone 2 is coming out next year exclusively to the PS3.

Singstar is also on the PS3 if you're interested in a game purely for fun.

Wii is the best console for kids and also the most interactive console with it's motion-sensitive controller. Really, though, it's preference. You have to find the games you like and go with that system. Personally, I'm a huge fan of Halo and so I have to go with Xbox 360. If I were a huge fan of Metal Gear or Gran Turismo, I'd get a PS3. Think of cost too. Do you "need" to have blu-ray or hd-dvd capability? If you're really into racing games, maybe you can wait until Gran Turismo comes out and decide then, but Xbox has some good ones too like Dirt, Need for Speed series, Project Gotham series. Hope that helps.

you are better off getting a ps3 because...

- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player

-ps3 supports 1.3 HDMI which has rich colors and xbox supports 1.2 HDMI

- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 50gb)

- because of the blu-ray's huge space, ps3 will have WAY better graphics than 360

- online is free for ps3 not like 360

- ps3 will have over 300 games released by this spring

- you can browse the internet on ps3, no such thing for xbox 360

- when developers get used to the system, the graphics will be WAY better than 360. should take them a year to get used to it

- developers stated that they will start using ps3 as the lead platform and port ps3 games to xbox

- playstation home is coming out this spring, its a virtual community where you can hang out with friends and customize your own apartment which xbox doesnt have(FREE)

- ps3 is a true HD console. xbox 360 upscale games to 1080p and ps3 DISPLAY games up to 1080p

- built in Wi-Fi

- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure
ps3: .2% hardware failure(see the decimal? less than 1%!)

- ps3 has better back-comp except the 40gb

- rumble returns in spring 2008

- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD
(they actually have the step by step on how to upgrade it on playstation.com)

those are the ones that i know right off my mind but there are much more reason than this

Now I want you to do me a favor, list all the reasons why xbox is better than ps3. I PROMISE you that nobody will get at least 5 reasons

Prices as of today:
ps3- 80gb: $499 with motorstorm
40gb: $399 with spiderman 3 blu-ray
xbox 360(premium)- $349
(elite)- $449
if you want the accessories that ps3 comes with, that would add up to over 700 dollars, so that means ps3 is actually cheaper

xbox 360 games are mainly shooters and are rated M
ps3 has better games for younger kids. there are a lot of racing games available and coming out. there is a free gran turismo game off playstation store, its a full game.
ratchet and clank(not a racing game but a kids game), motorstorm, gran turismo, ridge racer, full auto 2, need for speed prostreet, etc. there are a lot of ps3 exclusives that are racing games and xbox 360 exclusives are really shooters except forza

Buy PS3. It's more fun to move a controller and play games. it more fun. More rated E games come on PS3 and on 360 is mainly shooter like halo and gears of war. PS3 has a mixture of shooting games, fighting, racing, RPG, ect and can all be PS3 exclusives and must have titles. PS3 is better for kids and onler people. Theres more virity and much more things to do on the PS3. PS3 is also more cheaper too in the long run. any one can enjoy the PS3. Buy it you wont regreat it. and wont wake up and find you ps3 haveing red ring of death and wont being able to play games anymore untill u repair it or buy a new one.

PS3 games produced are on Hd 50gig blueray (more space for better graphics without sacrificing game levels and game size..) GTA4 developers even stated that the game will have better graphics and gaming on the ps3 version and are having issues with the 360 version because of 8gig dvd game format... They may have to make the 360 version on multiple disc so if you like getting out of your chair alot while playing, .....

360-elite games produced on dual layered 8gig dvds
game developers are finding the 360 format to limiting and finding that they have to sacrifice game graphics or gaming levels and challenges...Bungie the makers of HALO series have parted the exclusive ways with Microsoft and are now developing games that are multiplatform...

Ps3 499 and xbox 360 399or elite for $479---THe Ps3 for the extra $20 you get a full HD entertainment system that also surfs the internet. You can goto any website and watch or download videos like YouTube...You can access your email and print it etcc...

Ps3 Blueray hd movie player that also upscales regular dvds movies to HD...It also upscales ps2 games to hd..

Ps3 comes with rechargeable controllers...

Ps3 comes with free online play and Wifi

All of the above the 360-elite can't do.
360 and elite -For hd movies you have to buy the hddvd player for $200. For

360 elite for quick charge kit you have to buy it for $20.

To play online the 360 charges $50 a year

360 elite no interent browser

Ps3 hdmi 1.3 (supports deep color)
360-elite- 1.2 doesn't support deepcolor 1.3

Ps3 Nvidia RSX GPU Graphics at least two years ahead of it's time. And programmers aren't even close to using it's full potential yet.
360-elite is hardware locked into outdated DX9 graphics-Game programmers are developoing for DX10 (full 4d and 3d motion realism)

THe ps3 8cell broadband processors. CPU-Designed specifically for highspeed calculations (Games Capable of more AI charactors )

Xbox 360 -Elite-- The New 65NM CHip....Isn't any different then what they used in the 360 core except it cost less to produce....

Ps3 you can buy any external usb harddrive and hook it up loaded with music videos , etc...You can buy any brand 2.5 ata harddrive and upgrade the harddrive size for ps3...

THe elite and 360 requires Microsoft harddrives only- for a 20gig it's $100, for the 120 it's $189

360 -elite for wifi you have to pay an additional $100 and online gaming is $50 a year...And for that $50 a year to play online you also get stuck with third party in menu advertising...

To use 60% of what the 360 and elite can do you have to buy the addons and you'll spend over $750 before you even insert a game.

THe elite and new 360s hdmi, 65nm, red ring of death--Microsoft has no Idea what the cause is, You can't fix what you can't find. Game producer are even finding that the engines that Micorsofts provides them to develope games on are getting the Red ring of death and it is not caused by just the hardware engineering flaws. They are seriously frustrated and that is one reason Bungie the maker of the Halo series has left their exclusive contract with microsoft and is now developing games for other systems. Microsoft still owns Halo though. So yes all the 360s even the new ones are all vulnerable.

THe 360 sales numbers are game producer driven by three titles HALO, bioshock ( rumored to be multiplatform soon and availble to the pc now) and Gears of war (available to the PC now)...If it wasn't for those titles many gamers wouldn't tolerate the limitations and engineering flaws of the 360

Get the ps3 you can use it for so much more. We own all three. THe wii, elite and ps3... The ps3 will take you into the next two generations of game consoles... The 360 will have to be re deigned or another generation produced by 2009

Both of these systems are good for kids. Even though these systems are built for 10 and up, there are games for all ages, including the youngsters such 4 years old and older. There are a lot of games such as elmo to nickelodeon and disney channel based video games. Some good racing games for a kid is Need for speed and grand turismo. Both of these games are strictly racing games. No cursing at all.

Well I'd probably say any kids older than 10 years old can play the PS3, because its better quality and graphics than the Xbox 360, it has blu-ray disk and monitor sensitive controls.

The ps3 is excellent, no doubt, and lots of games are beggining to come out. For instance, Gran Turismo 5 is coming out in mid 2008, and thats the reason i bought mine. Theres Motorstorm, Juiced, NFS Prostreet, dirt and a few oter racing games out. and if your trying to get into shooting, call of duty 4 is out, and that is one of the best games ive ever played. I would recommend the PS3

Hmm, 360 has more titles, is cheaper, and has better online gaming controls. Project Gotham Racing is probably the best known racing game on Xbox and suitable for children.

But for a kid it has to be a Wii.
