My worst flight (actually flights) was on Delta. I flew from Lexington (LEX) to Atlanta (ATL), and then to San Antonio (SAT), and then the same, but in reverse.

Both legs of the trip to San Antonio, and the San Antonio-Atlanta leg, were on the Canadair CRJ-200. My first sign was how much I had to duck going through the door (I'm 5' 8") My second sign was the "two fingers" of head room I had walking down the aisle.

The first engine reaching idle was bad enough. The second was bordering on "I wonder if I should've bought earplugs?" from the takeoff roll through reaching cruising altitude, my thoughts were along the line of "Next time I'm getting earplugs, cotton balls, & ear muffs." The windows were mounted at a point were I'm sure that only a dwarf or small child could see out of without contorting like a Mongolian acrobat.

The second leg of the return trip was on an MD-88. Quieter, roomier & I was able to enjoy my coffee :-)

I was landing a cessna 172, on final approach about 1 minute after an air jamaica A-320. Wind turbulence from the larger aircraft almost FLIPPED the cessna. The a-320 was a brand new plane being tested so he happened to be doing circuits at the same airport. After witnessing my cessna come close to crashing, the Air traffic controller refused to give me permission to land again until the a-320 finished doing another 3 circuits (30 minutes later).

In this scary incident (which lasted about 6 seconds), he saw the cessna thrown to the right by the turbulent winds. By the time the tossing was over, the cessna was blown from directly overhead the runway centrerline, across a 100ft grass area, to become 'realigned' with the taxiway.

Needless to say, the cause of this accident would have been PILOT ERROR. There is a specific technique to safely avoid wake turbulence.

C-130 Outta Liberia 30Min's from Airfield. Over the Adriatic En Route to Brindisi Italy
#1 Engine DIED.
We got 3 left no problem. Pilots will restart.
28 Min's from Airfield.
#4 Engine DIES.
OK NOW I'm getting kinda worried, I am after all just a wrench turner. Crew is STILL attempting a restart on #1
10 Min's from Airfield. Nothing to see but water.
#2 Engine DIES.
Now at this point I make my peace with God cause I know that the Herky Bird don't GLIDE all that well, and a water landing while POSSIBLE is NOT REALLY LIKELY.
On Runway attempting to taxi to hardstand.
#3 Engine Dies. They tow the plane in we WALKED

Bad Fuel. The Crew Chief that tested it Lost 2 stripes. Pilot got a Reprimand.

I joined the navy back in 1963 and went to SanDiego to my first duty station, after Radio A school i was sent to SanFrancisco to catch what was called MATS This was a United airlines Propeller driven plane. I was on my way to Hawaii to my second duty station. The USS george Clymer APA27. The trip to hawaii was the bumpiest roughest un certain flight I have ever been on. There wetre times that it was worse than being on a Heliocopter. What a ride. I thought there were times we were going to fall out of the sky. I have had dreams or nightmares about that flight

My worst flight was during a mid-air refueling mission when the flight data computer took a dump on our aircraft(KC-10) and both aircraft went into a steep dive. The JAAT box broke away from its moorings and crashed into the cargo net, the refueling boom was forced into the fuselage with such force that it punctured the skin of the aircraft and bent the shock absorber on the boom. That was an ugly flight. Oh, and the getting shot at sucked.

First LHR to ORD. First it was back im the days when they allowed smoking and I was stuck between two chain smoking women. Second I was three rows from the back.

It was fine and boring until we got near Lake Michigan then we started descending through thunder storms. I was watching the wing tips going up and down twenty or thirty feet. We turned back and forwards between the storms as we descended over the lake. People all round me were throwing up all over the place. Eventually we got in between the storms and made it on to the ground.

My friend did 14 hours in a 747 with a passed out wife with food poisoning who dumped him for her girlfriend, a 4 month old who screamed for the whole flight and a two year old who was throwing up and crapping himself continuously. But that's not my story.

My worst flight was on Thursday, January 20, 2000, from Minneapolis (MSP) to Orlando (MCO). It was on Northwest Airlines, on a DC-10-40. I was in seat 19D. Shortly after takeoff, I started to feel motion sick. I felt sicker and sicker for the whole flight, and as we were disembarking, I vomited on the floor of the aircraft. Oddly enough, the puke was purple. That was my worst flight, but I'm sure many people have had even worse ones.

The flight I never had, or hope I won't.
You're pretty lucky to land that Cessna, I think. Looks like some tough winds could have knocked it out of the sky.

Flying a single seat, single engine ground attack fighter (A-7D) in Southeast Asia. Hit 4 different targets and got shot at a bunch on each pass. Air refueled once. Landed OK. Started unstrapping and discovered that my parachute harness was not connected to the parachute. Think about it.
