- are Christians still convinced homosexuality is a sin?

After all, few of them obey OT dietary laws. Why should these outdated sexual restrictions be any different?

"And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."

Damn. Well, I suppose we're all on here to learn.

For your info, this verse is in the New Testament;

1 Corinthians 6:9,10- What! Do you not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor MEN WHO LIE WITH MEN, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.

Romans 1:26,27- That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one CONTRARY TO NATURE; and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, MALES WITH MALES, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.

There are passages about homosexuality in the New Testament as well, but some branches of the church interpret them differently. Some understand those passages to refer to temple prostitution which took place among both men and women in other religions, or just selling your body in general. Others interpret it to mean any homosexual activity, prostitution or otherwise. Also, Jesus spoke of marriage as between a man and a woman. I don't know why anyone focuses on the OT passages if they're not following all the other hundreds of Mosaic laws, which weren't meant for Gentiles in the first place. (My gay Christian friends and I discuss this a lot.)

Homosexuality is condemned in both Testaments.
(Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27;
1 Corinthians 6:9).
9 Commandments of the Old Testament are Quoted in the New Testament.
Except keeping the Sabbath. but thats another question.
All those other Old Testament Laws were Nailed to the Cross.

Old Testament Law is a very broad term. The Torah was given to Moses and contains some 614 laws (number varies by scholar but most agree more than 600). These were moral laws, dietary laws, laws of worship and sacrifice, and even some civil laws (Israel began as a Theocracy). Jesus never claimed to supersede the Torah. His actual claim was that he came to fullfill the Law (not do a way with it).

Israel is no longer a Theocracy, so the civil laws no longer apply (such as capital punishment for many crimes...including homosexuality)

Cerimonlial laws had to be worked around because the temple was destroyed.

The one that still applies for us today is the Moral Law that God gave. Christ -following believers will continue to uphold that moral law...including homosexuality. Paul (contributor to 1/3 of the New Testament) includes homosexuality in a list of moral failures in 1 Cor. 6:9-11.

Homosexuality goes against creation. Sex is given by God just as race, and is sacred.

Turning From The 613 Laws Of
Yahweh Has Brought Suffering
Upon The World.

There are 613 Laws in the Inspired Scriptures.
Those Laws are proven to bring peace. Yahweh, the
Creator, assures us that if we will teach and follow
His Laws they will not only bring peace but will
also turn the hearts of adults and children away
from the violent behavior we see becoming the
norm in today’s world. The violent attitude we see
in today’s world is found in all walks of life. This
attitude of hatred, bitterness, and aggressiveness
leads to the separation of families, school shootings
and the serenity with which we accept wars in this
time period.

The Inspired Scriptures show that the 613 Laws
of Yahweh will stop the defilement of the body
which will also free the mind and heart, allowing
them to work properly. In that way, men and
women will be able to start making rational decisions.

Sin Brings Defilement; Defilement
Brings Sickness; Sickness Brings
Confusion; Confusion Brings
Mistakes.

The Inspired Scriptures show that the Laws of
Yahweh are a guide to a healthy mind and body.
Breaking them brings what we call sickness and
disease and what the Inspired Scriptures call curses.

Yahweh said if these Laws are followed they will
take sickness away from you.

Exodus 23:25—
And you shall serve Yahweh your Father, and He will
bless your bread and your water, and He will take
sickness away from the midst of you.

Deuteronomy 28:1-5—
1 And it will be, if you will listen diligently to the
Voice of Yahweh your Father, by observing and doing all
His Laws which I command you this day, that Yahweh
your Father will set you high above all the nations on
earth as His Kings and Priests.
2 And all these blessings will come upon you, and
accompany you, because you obey Yahweh your Father:
3 Blessed will you be in the city, and blessed will you
be in the country.
4 Blessed will be the fruit of your body, the produce
of your ground, and the young of your livestock: the
calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.
5 Blessed will be your basket and your storehouse.

Deuteronomy 7:14-15—
14 You shall be blessed above all peoples. There shall
not be a male or female barren among you, nor among
your livestock.
15 Yahweh will take away from you all sickness. You
will not be afflicted with any of the diseases you knew
in Egypt, but they will afflict those who hate you.

There is another warning that goes with the above
information given by the Savior and Apostles,
warning us all against sin.

Yahchanan (John) 5:14—
Afterward, Yahshua found him in the sacred precincts
of The House of Yahweh, and said to him: Behold, you
are healed. SIN NO MORE, or a worse thing will come upon
you.

Yahchanan 8:34-35—
34 Yahshua answered them: Truly, truly, I say to you:
Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
35 He who serves; worships, obeys, the gods (elohim)
will not remain in The House of Yahweh forever; a son
of Yahweh—a Righteous Man or Saint—will remain in
The House of Yahweh forever!

The Savior is showing that the more we sin, the
more suffering it causes. So sin is the cause of
sickness and disease. When we compare the
Inspired Words of the Apostle Shaul with the
Savior’s Words, we see the cause of most of today’s
curses: STDs, sickness and disease.

I Corinthians 6:18—
Flee sexual immorality! All other sins that a man
commits are outside his body; but he who sins sexually,
sins against his own body.

The Apostles, being taught by the Savior, knew
2,000 years ago that sexual immorality caused
sickness and disease to the body. Now notice the
following Scriptures.

I Timothy 1:9—
Knowing this: That the Law is not only laid down for
a Righteous man, but also for the lawless and
disobedient, for the unrighteous and for sinners, for the
unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and
murderers of mothers, for manslayers.

>> If the coming of Jesus meant that we no longer have to
>> follow Old Testament law, then why are Christians still
>> convinced homosexuality is a sin?

Simple, because Jesus' First Coming doesn't mean that at all.

>> After all, few of them obey OT dietary laws.

I obey all OT dietary laws -- in fact, I go a bit further by not eating animal flesh and by not drinking alcohol at all.

>> Why should these outdated sexual restrictions be any
>> different?

Because they're not outdated. Jesus said *none* of the law was changed -- nor will be -- until heaven and earth pass away. We're still here, yes?

>> Where does the NT explicitly forbit homosexuality?
>> Chapter and verse please.

You mean "forbid"? Here you go -- this addresses both men and women (and don't miss the last verse, either):

Rom. 1:24 "And so God has given those people over to do the filthy things their hearts desire, and they do shameful things with each other.
Rom. 1:25 "They exchange the truth about God for a lie; they worship and serve what God has created instead of the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever! Amen.
Rom. 1:26 "Because they do this, God has given them over to shameful passions. EVEN WOMEN PERVERT THE NATURAL USE OF THEIR SEX BY UNNATURAL ACTS.
Rom. 1:27 "In the same way the MEN GIVE UP NATURAL SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH WOMEN AND BURN WITH PASSION FOR EACH OTHER. Men do shameful things with each other, and as a result they bring upon themselves the punishment they deserve for their wrongdoing.
Rom. 1:28 "Because those people refuse to keep in mind the true knowledge about God, he has given them over to corrupted minds, so that they do the things that they should not do.
Rom. 1:29 "They are filled with all kinds of wickedness, evil, greed, and vice; they are full of jealousy, murder, fighting, deceit, and malice. They gossip
Rom. 1:30 "and speak evil of one another; they are hateful to God, insolent, proud, and boastful; they think of more ways to do evil; they disobey their parents;
Rom. 1:31 "they have no conscience; they do not keep their promises, and they show no kindness or pity for others.
Rom. 1:32 "They know that God's law says that people who live in this way deserve death. Yet, not only do they continue to do these very things, but they even approve of others who do them."

1Cor. 6:9 "Do you not know that the unrighteous and the wrongdoers will not inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived (misled): neither the impure and immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, NOR THOSE WHO PARTICIPATE IN HOMOSEXUALITY,
1Cor. 6:10 "Nor cheats (swindlers and thieves), nor greedy graspers, nor drunkards, nor foulmouthed revilers and slanderers, nor extortioners and robbers will inherit or have any share in the kingdom of God."

Christ never said "we no longer have to follow Old Testament law". Here's what he actually said:

Matthew Chapter 5:17-18
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Luke Chapter 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Most Christians do not know the difference between laws, ordinances, and statutes. The 10 Commandments and food laws (Acts Chapter 10 is about people, not food) are still valid; however, the blood ordinaces are not valid anymore.

The problem is you have to understand that the old testament was the new testament hidden and the new testament is the old testament revealed. The bible says that the old testament is the shadow of things to come. I say this to say that what was consider sin in the old testament is still sin today bit instead of being judge by the law we have mercy. Homosexuality will always be sin just like the murder. Now you have a decision to make if you are going to live like you want or live according to Gods word.Everybody wants to mold God according to their imagination or idea but the bottom line is God is God and we have to mold our self to his word and not him to our ideas. A person posses of homosexuality can be deliver just like the drunker but the question is do they want to. Society may change but God will never change. We live in a generation that that thinks they know it all but God said that men professing to be wise become fools in his eyes. I guess that's the reason why the bible said that the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. Not because preaching is foolish but a generation that would consider the word of God foolish will not heed but those that have faith will be save

Christians cherry pick. We know it, they know it.

They don't want to follow Jesus to the letter, because of course that would mean converting to Judaism, the religion that Jesus practised. Jesus never stated that the Judaic rules no longer applied. Oh sure, the NT will say he does - of course it will. But it was written mostly by people who never met Jesus, like Paul.

Jesus kept kosher, and he adhered to the Jewish faith. For Christians to now say they will abide by the ten commandments but that all the rest has been 'done away with' is the height of absurdity. At least other religions do have an internal coherence. Christianity is just mass cherry picking.

Anything that is in disobedience to God is a sin and has been from the beginning of time.

Now, Adam had only one law, do not touch or eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Yet , he chose to break that one simple law.

We are all like that, even if there were only one law now, we would still break it, no matter what it was. If we are presented with a do not touch or eat that, we will "want" to touch it or eat it.

So, Jesus died for our inability to keep from breaking the law, rather than our "breaking" of the law.
If we love him as we are told to Love him, then we will no longer "want" to break the laws, even though we will still break them.

Now, as a side point. the dietary laws were changed, you will find this in the book of acts. The laws governing human relationships were not changed even one tittle or dot.
Again, we break them all the time, but are we regretful and repentant, or are we arrogant and justifying about it?
